What facts have you stated that have gotten you called crazy?
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 12:13 PM by Philosoraptor
I can remember several situations when I have mentioned some facts and been flat out called crazy. When I tell people about grandpa bush and Hitler, they give the the skyward gaze and eye roll.

When I point out that the last two presidential elections were stolen to certain folks, they point to their temples and twirl.

If I point out that almost every one of the so called nine eleven hijackers were Saudis, not Iraqis, or that Saddam had nothing to do with the attacks, they immediately dismiss me utterly as a kook with an agenda and a grudge.

What other strange but true facts have you been called a liar or crazy for uttering aloud?

1. 1972 election - I was 14
I told my mother not to vote for Nixon, that he had committed a crime and would be impeached.

2. Nobody actually likes evolution
Agriculture is the source of our large scale, seemingly endless problems.

Oh, out loud? Ummm...Bush is the worst thing to ever happen to us!!!

3. Well, people kind of backed away from me between the "recount"
and *'s awful post-911 speech. I would not back down on insisting that it wasn't a good speech and he didn't handle himself well. I also kept telling people I was proud of Gore (not so those around him) for not backing down from the recount and people would sigh and tell me they were tired of talking about it (and tired of me). I later got many apologies from people. They don't think I'm crazy anymore. They listen to me.

4. No one has ever called me a liar or called me crazy.
I've seen some people grin, though, and laugh, as if they think I'm not serious.

1 - bush is guilty of, at the least, criminal negligence for failure to implement procedures to prevent the attacks of September 11, 2001.

2 - the GOP stole the election of 2000, with the Supreme Court, especially Scalia, as willing accomplices.

3 - the GOP stole the election of 2004.

4 - bush is not a Christian

5 - Iraq had no WMD (pre-invasion and occupation)

That about covers the issues that caused some people to laugh at me. Odd, not as many are laughing now as before.

5. it's a little odd for modern enlightened society

to punish the crime of taking a life by taking a life.

Ah well. Apparently the part I got wrong was modern and enlightened.

Also I used the word caveman in a nearby sentence, which got some folks on DU to actually soil their twisted little diapers. I took no prisoners.

All in all quite memorable . . .

edited to add, mischief afoot here

6. People rarely call me crazy
I don't know my. I guess I am intimidating or something. But then I don't tend to talk a lot, either. As a matter of fact, I play pretty close to the chest.

Well, I've been known to let loose around here, but most people at work don't know my name, let alone my politics.

7. Corporations had an agenda to dominate world governments
's OK though. All the people who called me crazy are now underemployed or unemployed and have plenty of time to think about how right I was all those years ago.

9. Nat all of the hijackers were Saudi.
I think 15 were. There was a Lebanese fellow and at least one Egyptian - can't remember the other two.

11. the planes didn't cause the WTC collapse . . .
and something other than a jetliner hit the Pentagon . . . pretty obvious from the evidence, imo, but lots of folks don't (or won't) see it . . .

15. Sorry, but I gotta roll my eyes at that one.
CIA planted demolitions in the WTC. A missile hit the Pentagon. And I got some ocean-view property in Colorado to sell ya.

Grassy Knoll I tell you!

17. I didn't say either of those things . . .
I merely said that the planes didn't cause the collapse, and that a jetliner didn't hit the Pentagon . . .

I have no idea what DID happen -- but I'm pretty damn sure I know what DIDN'T happen . . . based on the evidence . . .

12. A co worker was practically masturbating over the recent drop
gas prices saying he'll be able to go on vacation to the oregon coast. I told him enjoy it because they will SOAR after the mid-term election.

He looked at me like I just committed some great heresay and said: "You can't be serious."
I bet him a hundred dollars and he took one dollar of the bet, but he looked very unsure of himself.

14. We can have universal health care for one
I pointed out that Cuba, which has only a fraction of the wealth that the US has can afford universal health care and asked why we don't have it here.

Immediatly I get the con response that we can't afford universal health care and we would have to take the money from somehwere else (with the implication it would be social spending) or raise taxes (tax and spend , that's how "Liberals" work after all :sarcasm:)

Having then pointed out the military spends billions on weapons we don't and can't actually use and that corporations skip out on at least 75 billion in taxes so if we just enforced our laws or stopped buying shit we don't need, we could easily afford universal health care..the cons responded with numerouse emoticon blank faces.

Apparently spending our money better is too radical an idea for them.

Other examples include pointing out that most of the votes cast out were for democratic voters and that terrosim has gotten WORSE, not better under Shrub's policies.

BUT I think the funniest time is when I give specific examples of how Shrub lied (often citing events or documents radically out of date or out of context. So either Shrub was lying about such things as Hamzda's testimony and that non-existent IAEA report, or he and his entire administration doesn't understand such concepts as DATES and that things happened in the past.

Most cons call me crazy or just ignore it for pointing it out. When pushed to explain it. the best they can do is a claim that Shrub didn't lie because he didn't know what he was saying was untrue. (in other words, Shrub isnt' lying because he and his entire administration are retarded in a very specific way and so have no idea what the truth is)
