Has Bush gone over the Edge?
he did a while ago in my opinion. Why doesn't Poppy pull the plug?

I do like this quote by Dr. Justin Frank:

I have not examined the President, so it is not proper for me to offer a diagnosis. However, my observations lead me to believe that he is psychotic.

in 2004. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde ain't got nothin on old Georgie.

If you look at video of him when he was Governor of Texas, he wasn't that way. Big-time asshat yes, but not a crazy psychotic koo-koo. Wonder what happened?

Is it the stress, or is his mind just deteriorating?

10. Dr. Frank's book "Bush on the Couch" is a very important work,
and now it sounds like his subject is even further gone. If his Pops, a man not noted for his human feeling, is concerned, that should be taken as a sign that Shrub is in bad, bad shape.

On a side note, as a Latin teacher, the reference to the Dear Leader as a "poor man's Cicero" struck me as

16. I don't see anything inconsistent in those.,
(Caveat: I am not a professional in mental health.)

Junior is, and has been, the poster boy for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. When such a malady not only goes unchecked but exists in a job that offers a narcissistic supply beyond all imagining, we're off the charts of any ordinary case. It is a malady that's unbounded - an insatiable demand for feedback and reaction, without which he fears personal annihilation - ceasing to exist. That core, deep-seated fear, unchecked and fed, can lead to consequential mental illness. When I've said that locking him away in a padded cell in solitary confinement would lead to a "meltdown" ... that's not mere hyperbole. He's headed for a meltdown no matter what happens. That's even why I say that the fascist right will have him 'martyred' before the 2008 election - they don't have an alternative, given their goals and zeal. As an ex-pResident, he'd be a complete disaster for anyone and everyone associated with him.

18. They're totally different disorders
Narcissism is a personality disorder, like antisocial, avoidant, etc. Left unchecked, the narcissistic disorder can spiral downward into breakdown & even psychosis, which is what I think we're seeing with Bush. But schizophrenia is a completely different disorder - it is a mental illness which creates strong, unmistakeable symptoms in early adulthood that Bush has shown no sign of. A person who's NPD won't be schizophrenic & vice versa. When Franks floated that idea, I lost a little faith in his diagnosis of Bush.

22. I think the paranoid schizophrenia ...
... is a secondary malady resulting from long-term substance abuse ... and the substance abuse itself was a behavior stemming from the NPD ("acting out"). While, like you, I don't credit the diagnosis of P.S. as well-substantiated as NPD (and resulting psychosis), I don't think it can be discarded nor do I think Frank is to be dismissed due to such observations.

25. You bring up a valid point, Tahiti Nut
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 11:32 AM by Tellurian
actually, 2 valid points-

(1)"That's even why I say that the fascist right will have him 'martyred' before the 2008 election - they don't have an alternative, given their goals and zeal. (2) As an ex-pResident, he'd be a complete disaster for anyone and everyone associated with him."

Bush's upbringing has alot to do with his state of mind today. A delusional mother, a very strict hypercritical father. His reliance on following directions as to what to do and say. Never being allowed to think for himself and rationalize situations to assess information, process it and come to conclusions on his own..

(1)Bush has become a huge LIABILITY to the Republican Party. AFATC, a total failure of a planned seamless takeover of our government. After all, they spent years developing think tanks, took all the time in the world to refine the PNAC agreement. Then handing their thoughts over to a robotic "figurehead" followed up with daily briefings as to what has to be done next. To the average person, this alone would be an over the top stressful situation, similar to being a POW at Gitmo or Vietnam. Only in this case, a prisoner of his so-called supporters, who, at this stage of the game, have become disenchanted with him and want to replace him before all is lost. Time is running out for them and I'm sure alternative strategies are the main topic of conversation with the word 'imperative' prefacing every board meeting.

You can imagine the pressure Bush is under from Cheney...Cheney, dangling at the end of Fitz's string, has gone into the 'everyman for themselves' mode. He must be aware, he isn't even a consideration by the board as a suitable replacement for Bush because his hands are dirty. But on the other hand, Cheney may break ranks seeking protection for himself by replacing Bush, claiming Presidential immunity as his Constitutional Right, saying, If anyone has a problem with that, let the SCOTUS sort it out.

(2)Imagine the fear struck in the hearts of those involved in the most nefarious activities in the history of the WH. Imagine their fear of Bush's total breakdown and he starts naming names...
A Holocaust of the Third kind. Totally and permanently ruining untold lives (well, too bad for them)
dwarfing Hitler's rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Bush's life isn't worth a nickel right now. Who can he trust when there is so much at stake?

His father better do what he's gotta do. Get him the Hell out of there before it's too late; for all of us.

however, drug use can cause a person to present the same symptoms. Personally, I think he has a personality disorder which is worsened by drug and alcohol abuse.

we or someone bring forward, like how Joe Scarborough did it a few weeks ago, with his segment but I think it should be presented seriously, like would Keith Olbermann mention it, or has he? But, this shouldn't be sweep underneath a rug. Bush is clearly suffering from a "disorder" for all of our sakes he should be removed immediately.

except we have no mechanism by which to do that. He would have to be totally nonfunctional. Right now they're propping him up pretty well, at least for public appearances. He always was a figurehead. There's nobody home too often in there now IMO. But he keeps getting by, by plugging into a rigid routine to cover the disassociative periods. His handlers keep up the illusion that the pResident is in control when the truth is he's been on autopilot for awhile. They succeeded in this with Reagan. Tony Snow has become the Mouth of Bush for anything other than canned speeches. The pResident is really disembodied now--his henchmen are moving all the puppet's body parts.

We deserve so much better than this Clown-in-Chief.

too much analyzing on my part but you have to wonder about it, we know already about bush and his relationship with his mother and father, and one of Rove's parents committed suicide I thought I heard that, what about Cheney and Rummy, these guys have many skeletons in their closets.

early history of rove:

early history of rumsfeld

early history of cheney

this maybe interesting to you guys also: http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/usa/

36. That's the new cult of the "normal"
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 03:39 PM by TahitiNut
After all, "normal" and "average" are worshipped by the C-czar. Sneer at the 'A's and 'B's! The "average" individual health, either physical or mental, isn't very good. It's obese and codependent, ridden with cancer and greed/ambition.

When I was a kid, we escaped our 'nuclear' dysfunctional families by going to public school and hanging out at friends' houses. Our grandparents and aunts and uncles were nearby. Walking a couple miles or biking 5-10 miles was typical. Today, with home-schooling all the rage, and the job-hunters moving to the 'greener pastures' of other states, I shudder at the coming generation of control freaks without their own inner compasses.

He doesn't seem to be "suffering" at all. In fact, he seems to be having a grand time. He is a Silverspoon Sociopath and goes on vacation more than any other Prez in the History of the US. He also thinks that he is a comdedian. His skits and jokes are a real clue to his personality.

37. Is it Bush or is it the philosophy?
Both, probably...

Clearly Bush is not a sound individual. However, if we don't start making the case that the fascist racist idealogy of the Neocons is what really has crippled our nation, then they will blame Bush for all the problems and claim that he was the one that fucked up, not the policy. And we'll be stuck with the same crap still, because the average American is a sucker for thier simplistic cartoonish worldview.
