1. If the Blair government collapses, what happens?
I'm a bit familiar with the British system of parliamentary government, but only how it works under normal circumstances.

If Parliamentary secretaries and ministers continue to resign and become normal MPs, what happens to the Blair government? Can Labour replace the Prime Minister while keeping the government intact, or would Parliament disband until new elections are held?

3. Parliament only disbands if the Queen orders it
And thats usually only done for a general election.

Conference this month is the key. If the party finally decides to throw him out, we could be rid of him before Christmas

7. The Prime Minister can request a disassembling of Parliament
Or Parliament can bring forward and pass a vote of no-confidence in the PM, and then he has to go to the Queen and ditto to above.

6. I think it's more of an internal coup
in the Labour Party than a collapse.

4. BBC predicted the end of the Blair government within months
I think they were overestimating his staying power.

I'd hate to see a bunch of war hawk Tories take control, though. I hardly think they'd be much of an improvement, although they might force Labour to regroup and reconsider what its core philosophy needs to be.

Maybe the Democrats would catch a clue, then.

5. Hopefully
if Gordon Brown takes over he will take a step to the left, and also distance himself from *.

That would be the best outcome.
