Katie and "cutesy news" bits
I thought it was supposed to be the national NEWS - not a cheesy "Good Morning America" clone....

:wtf:

how many neat-o keen types of segments did Ms Chirpy'n'Perky have, anyhow?

The your money segment practically had me hurling - the cost of gas from extraction to station, and nary a single whisper of "PROFITS"?

:puke:

I miss Walter Cronkite.....

1. Yes, break out the comfortable couches
and have Matt Lauer do a walk-on. I muddled through the half hour. Back to Brian tomorrow. No doubt CBS executives are regretting their check writing skills. Maybe a friday cooking show to end the week.

2. What, no Bush?
I thought they promoted that he was going to be her first interview for the premiere.

3. Apparently
you missed the line about Katrina costing hundreds of millions in repairs to oil platform and the oil company still made 64 billion dollars in profits? It sounds like you pre-disposed not to like the program before it aired. Your right to do so duly noted.

5. they neglected to mention the money congress gave them to repair
and rebuild even WHILE the gas companies were getting record profits.... It seemed rather unbalanced and more a "rah-rah good oil company and poor you for the evil katrina storm daring to damage you" than a balanced report on cost of gas production.
How is it that the percentages for production to sale managed to equal 100 with nary a peep about profit? I would like to have heard what the profit on a single dollars worth of gas is - THAT would have been interesting.

I prefer the Walter Cronkite style of news, I admit that openly. I miss *real* news reporting, investigative reporters and for tha matter "fact checking"

4. I was yelling at my tv during that bit
It infuriated me to the point of yelling at my tv when they had the guy on explaining how costly Katrina was for the poor oil company. And the listing of their 25 Billion dollars in profit was just a little afterthought.

I yelled some more at my TV when she called free speech a privilege.

Buh-by CBS Nightly news.

9. My mother's comment on Katie was:
"Why do I have the feeling that, if she'd been reporting the day JFK was killed, she would have spent an hour discussing how Jackie was going to get the blood out of her suit?"
