Tell me why our young men
can be trained in less than 4 mos to go to Iraq and fight and the Iraqi men take 3 years to be trained? Whats up with that? Why are they stupid or incompetent or what? If incompetent then they should be recruited by bush for his administration. I don't get it. What is going on??? They should be ready to protect their own country and let us out of there. Stand up never as long as they don't have to.

1. Very good point. Besides, many of the Iraqis were in the army
already. Boy, wasn't that a stupid idea to dismantle their army?

3. Our army is not entirely composed of young with 40 mos training
Ours is a professional army, not an army of recruits. Most of its members have considerably more than 4 months training, and even new recruits are supported by a large network of experienced personnel.

The Iraqi army, on the other hand, is mostly new. It didn't have to be that way. That was our choice.

4. The Iraqis have the habit of disappearing.
The fact is, the desertion rate from the Iraqi army and police forces is astronomical. Guys get in long enough to get some equipment, and a few paychecks, then they get out before they're asked to go kill other Iraqis. Or else they stay in the army, but in a unit that won't fight. Not all of them do this, of course, but quite a few do. It's a survival option in a place where most of the other jobs are gone.

5. Because the "Iraqi police" are a joke.
Half of them are deserters, the other half are insurgents.

Not that I'm criticizing the bravery or loyalty of the Iraqi people. I'm saying the idea of invading a country and then rallying a group of their people to support the invaders is just plain stupid.

6. I think alot of the training canard
is just an excuse to stay since that IS our plan. There was no exit strategy because we HAD NO INTENTIONS of leaving. I think dems should quit the republican framing of issues altogether and tell the American people the truth straight out and then have the war party have to defend their arguing points and positions. Show why Murtha said they should be redeployed outside of the theatre.
