Awwwww.... Wal-mart lost a shopper.
http://www.nwaonline.net/letters/

My eyes could not believe what I read this morning in the Morning News on the front Business page. “Retailer Supports Gay Group.” It felt like a knife had been stabbed into my back. I could not believe you would lower yourself to such, just for greed. I know “Mr. Sam” would not have stooped so low to gain a few dollars.

Wal-Mart has always been my favorite place to shop, but not anymore. I will not be a supporter of any business that supports national gay and lesbians.
(As opposed to, say, local gays and lesbians?)

Actually I long for the day when there are no shoppers with this attitude.

8. Feel the joy. I guess that means she won't be in for the HOLIDAY
specials anymore either. The bright side is that when she is raptured she will leave behind some stuff that isn't from Walmart.

3. Because gay people
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 08:40 AM by GrpCaptMandrake
don't deserve to buy cheap Chinese crap that helps put more Americans out of work.

After all, if ya let the gays into Wal-Mart, all the tacky might get swamped in an absolute tsunami of good taste! Where, then, will Bobbie Sue go for her size 12 confederate flag thong panties? Where will Billy Joe Bob go for those nice, yet reasonably inexpensive, cotton-blend percale sheets that he needs for his next "lodge" meeting? You can't burn a cross in a floral sheet and feel anything like self-respect!

Can't beat those right-wing goobers for patriotism, can ya?

6. Most gays and lesbians I know have better taste, anyway
than to go for cheap, sleazy merchandise that lasts 1/3 of the time that something that costs 50% more does. They're smart enough to recognize false economy when they see it.

Plus, their produce sucks.

4. Hey Noreen.....I got a clue for you......Chances are gays have been
shopping in your Wal-Mart ever since it first opened. I bet your Wal-Mart had NO problem using money from gay shoppers at all in . GASP!

Without even knowing it!

But I'm not going to tell her what it was. She'll just have to wonder, and worry.

society they way companies employ them and everything like regular God-fearing folk. Perish the thought! Companies need to screen out them gays better!

5. this is the issue that pushes them over the top?
I'm pretty sure Sam Walton wouldn't have approved of his heirs' shady business practices, the musling out of other competing local businesses, the unapologetic greed of the owners, and its exploitation of wokers, either.

But, damn, all that is ok.

but once they say they tolerate homos and fags, well, then, that's it.

A good Christian can only tolerate so much, right?

Gee, maybe rather than use WMD lies and human rights abuses, Bush should have just said that Saddam loved fags. The Christian right might have even enlisted their sons in the army to take him out

20. This is what I noticed too
They think Sam would never stoop so low as to support gays and lesbians, but they are sure he's perfectly fine with the exploitation of American workers that's going on in WalMart today.

Right wingers, again proving that evolution has not been kind to them. (No wonder they're so into that intelligent design theory.)

13. The woman who wrote that letter
is obviously not a long-time native NW Arkansas resident. There are not many of those left as many have been driven out or bought out and forced to go elsewhere. Those who are know very well that the only thing Mr. Sam cared about was the money. Many of them were also exploited and taken advantage of as the company grew and took over the place. Bentonville is now a one horse town. Hasn't always been that way.

The Arvest bank that this woman is no longer going to patronize is owned by Walton bankshares which is owned by the Walton family. Mr. Sam bought control in the Bank of Bentonville in the early 1960's and used that bank to finance Wally World at a time when he was having difficulty securing other financing for his little retail venture - potentially putting other customers at risk. The bank group grew as he acquired controlling interest in still more banks. Those acquisitions are still occurring and the bank group currently does business in at least three or four states. They have begun to do in banking what they have already accomplished in retail. Basically they go buy small, rural or distressed banks then undercut any competitors and force them out.

Make no mistake, Mr. Sam would have few if any objections to the business practices of his heirs and successors. He drove competitors out of business from the beginning. True, the company was initially supportive and generous toward its workforce - at least while there was a limited workforce available. Once competitors were forced out and the company grew out of its rural environment it found that workers were more plentiful. It has always been all about the money. Anyone who thinks otherwise has bought into the myth of Mr. Sam.

25. Forgot to point that out;
Arvest is run by, I believe, a close relative of Walton.

Face it; if you live here and don't plan to patronize anything to do with Wal-Mart, you'd better move.

15. This is a perfect example of the difference between them and us
meaning the right winger will stop shopping at WalMart because of their hate for a group and wanting to exclude them

and we won't shop at WalMart because of the way they treat their employees, distributors and don't sell American....

They want to destroy - we want to build up

17. Poor Noreen....
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 09:29 AM by TwoSparkles
Where will Noreen go NOW--for low prices on mustache removal creme, "Wart-Be-Gone" and flamingo lawn ornaments?

And what about affordable cinder blocks? How's she supposed to keep her trailer from rolling into the swamp?

Somewhere in Arkansas, a woman named Noreen will go without her usual lunch--aerosol cheese and a bottle of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill.

How sad.

19. Poor baby... Harp's will appreciate your buying their groceries and
since they will 'match' any Wal-Mart price, why haven't you been shopping there already...they're a local chain? "...but I hope every other Christian in this nation will have the same feelings of not helping to support such a group." So do I, maybe Wal-Mart can be stopped with the help of 'Christians'.

22. Walmart must be hurting due to Union Busting and all. Trying to redo
their image within Liberals. But why go so far to plant a story? LOL

I have not idea but if Walmart is supporting all americans.. obviously they've decided it isn't profitable to cut out half your potential shopper with a bad reputation.

HEY WALLMARKT! THERE ARE CONSEQUENCE TO FUNDING REPUKES WHO TRIBALIZE A NATION. DIDN'T THEY TELL YA YOU WOULD LOOSE HALF YOUR CUSTOMERS?
