Democrats Stable, GOP gains (2 points) in poll

The Democratic Party is the top political organization in the United States, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 48 per cent of respondents would support the Democratic candidate in their congressional district, while 32 per cent would vote for the Republican contender.

Support for the Democrats remained stable since early August, while backing for the Republicans increased by two points. American voters will renew the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate on Nov. 7.

In the November 2004 congressional ballot, the Republican Party elected 232 lawmakers to the United States House of Representatives, while the Democratic Party secured 202 seats. The Republicans also have a majority in the Senate, with 55 members in the 100-seat upper house.

On Aug. 23, Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Howard Dean criticized Republican Virginia senator George Allen, declaring, "I don’t think he belongs in public service, to be honest with you. There are Republicans who are capable and smart, thoughtful people, and he’s not one of them."

Last month, Allen—who is seeking re-election—repeatedly referred to a volunteer for Democratic rival James Webb as "macaca". The word is considered a racial slur in certain European cultures. Allen later apologized for the remark.

Not familiar with this particular Fox poll, but it does look interesting. I love the way they spun the 2 points the GOP gained since they had gone down 4 point from July, and come back up 2. Spin spin.

That things ain't gonna go down easy. This bunch is not going to give up power without a fight.

3. I think you're right -- it's about all they can do right now, since

actually defending their positions on issues and the direction of the country would be out of the question.

Their failures are immense and pervasive, and if we roll up a few sleeves and get that message out, Nov. 7th is going to be a paint-the-town blue night.
