whether or not you are a fan of Steve Irwin.

(be patient, the site is slow to load today for obvious reasons)

Personally, I liked him very much. He was entertaining, outrageous, educational, courageous, and generous. Few people in history or the future will ever be able to say they lived life as fully and enthusastically as him, or that they gave as much and taught as much about nature.

He was a "force of nature" himself, and he will be missed. My hope is that his memory will serve as much good as his life did, and his work will continue to captivate children and adults like it has for the last 20 years.

2. I thought he was a little over the top at times.
He has introduced millions upon millions of children to the beauty and mysteries of the natural world. Though short, it was a life well spent.

8. I agree... he was over the top....
but that audacity is what made people sit up and take notice, and it is what captivated children and teens. I admit he had to grow on me. I found him to be nothing but annoying at first. But over time, I began to find him as endearing as he was terrifying.

4. Thank you for this link!
I was thinking this afternoon, how to best honor this nice fella.

A few dollars thrown down under would do it.

Thanks!

I have the feeling his death will prompt a large wave of support for his causes, and I think that is the best way to honor his work.

6. My family hear of his death on the radio...
while traveling in our car today. Our children were very sad to hear that the Crocodile Hunter was gone. He will be missed by many. A donation, in our kids names, is a great idea!

10. I think it would be a nice touch...
to let your children each have a donation in their own name... that way they can feel more connected to it. My mom did that for me when I was a kid.
