Parents, Listen Up!

by Marsha West
Parents, Listen Up!
September 04, 2006 02:50 PM EST

This is no longer a nation where kids can be kids anymore. The secular humanists have seen to that. Children have been robbed of their innocence because liberals see them as fair game in their struggle to promote their anti-God agenda. Thanks to groups like the ACLU and People for the American Way, youngsters are literally inundated with sex and violence everywhere they turn. The barbarians are no longer at the door; they’ve kicked it down and have taken over the house.

“This is why we ought to continue fighting the culture war—restricting pornography and protecting marriage—because to do so is good for our society. But fighting these battles will help us in another way, as well. As Charles Krauthammer noted in Townhall.com, one of the reasons Islam is fighting ‘the great jihad’ against America has to do with sexual depravity. The jihadists claim that wherever freedom travels—‘especially in America and Europe—it brings sexual license and corruption, decadence and depravity.’” – Charles Colson

Here’s the important point: America has lost its moral compass and fallen into a pit of depravity, and the whole world knows it. If we’re going to emerge from the seemingly bottomless pit we’ve dug for ourselves and win the culture war, Christians have got to get busy. Our success depends on two factors. First, parents must instill in their children a Christian worldview on a variety of moral issues, from premarital sex and bearing babies out of wedlock, to gambling and drug use. Second, parents must address what’s going on in the government-run-institutions-of-indoctrination (otherwise known as public schools). Countless “progressive” teachers are stealthily implanting in student’s minds the idea of rejecting their parent’s values and adopting a leftist ideology. “The left,” says Melanie Morgan, “does not see education as you and I do, where young people develop critical thinking skills and learn how to make their own decisions. They see it as a training ground – like al-Qaida sees their training grounds – a place to indoctrinate young people into their own perverted view of the world.” <1> Case in point: A San Francisco high school principal invited activist Cindy Sheehan to “speak to the students about the evils of America's efforts to combat terrorism and to use her to rally students to oppose the fight against terrorism.”

Hard to believe that the principal of a taxpayer-funded school would invite a mouthpiece for the Left to spew anti-war rhetoric while no one in support of the war against terrorism was invited to speak to the students. This kind of thing is happening all over the country! Why are parents putting up with this sort of blatant brainwashing? Parents that disagree with these tactics must lock horns with the teachers that use their classrooms as a Leftist training ground and shout “Enough already!”

3. Premarital sex and children out of wedlock
The two young people in my extended family who have out-of-wedlock children were raised in very fundamentalist homes. The people in my extended family who are most outspoken about fundamentalist religion have pretty wild pasts.

4. There would be more true Christians if there were less ...
... of this sort. These hollow shells, fakes, and worshippers of false prophets make Christianity look bad. Trying to take over politics was the worst mistake ever made by the lower end followers of Christianity. They didn't Christianize politics. They politicized Christianity.

I love it that the right thinks that somehow they're the ones who believe in critical thinking. They can't even examine the bullshit that spews from the mouths of their leadership with anything approaching a critical ear.

Beyond ridiculous.

Same BS, different century. Tiresome.

"Kill the 'secular humanists!' Kill the witches! They are after our children and they do not embrace religion heartily enough."

Rinse. Repeat . . . next year, next decade, next century.

12. This is NOT,
I repeat, NOT, a nation based upon Christian ideals! The Founding Fathers came here to escape a Theocracy! Typical Conservatards! It's not enough that they want to go backwards in time to their mythological "good old days", they want to inundate the public schools and drag everyone else back "there" with them! Also in typical fashion, they play the victim card. They always seem to have to be at war with or under attack by something!

"liberals...anti-god agenda"
"protecting marriage"
"the Left's ....perverted view of the world"
"Charles Krauthammer"
"classrooms as a leftist training ground"

.....................................you can use it as toilet paper.

23. Yes - and this sentence is one of the most idiotic:
"Thanks to groups like the ACLU and People for the American Way, youngsters are literally inundated with sex and violence everywhere they turn."
(As if youngsters' PEERS never mention sex to each other).
Oh that's right - Marsha grew up in a cubicle isolated from all contact with the outside world except for her friend Andrea Lafferty.

Who the hell do Chuck Colson and Melanie Morgan think they are to go around telling the rest of the world how to live? When did they become the moral authority in this country?

18. O please, christians control EVERYTHING and this one is
complaining that they are persecuted.

And bringing up kids without religion is a GOOD thing. IMO, teaching a kid religion as if it was real is child abuse.

It's amazing to me that we make it illegal for kids to see a tit on TV, but it's perfectly ok for them to be taught dangerous myths as reality.

Why not an age limit for religion? Make sure that kids aren't infected with it before they have the mental defenses to protect themselves from it.

22. So, Colson & Krauthammer are advocating appeasing the terrorists?
That's how I read it. Terrorists don't like our being open about sex, so they are advocating restriction of pornography, banning gay marriage, etc, so they can conform to the whims of Al Qaeda.

Am I reading this incorrectly? If they succeed on these issues, are burkas next?

34. Bush & his Congress have done a lot of appeasing
They moved troops out of the DMZ in South Korea... they outed Valerie Plame & her front company, Brewster-Jennings... they also outed Mohammed Naeem Noor Khan, a double-agent that had infiltrated Al Qaeda... they "called off the dogs" when they had Osama surrounded at Tora Bora... they have done little regarding port security. They've united the Arab & Muslim world against us.

I mean, Osama could not have planned it any better himself.

32. This was my thought as well
It's appeasement. When we point out economic reasons why the middle east hates us and how we could change those factors they scream "appeasement." But apparently it's ok for them to appease the terrorists by giving up our cultural freedoms. I have an idea! Maybe all these fundie women can start wearing burkas.

27. The thing that pisses me off the most about this is
that these people truly are in the minority, yet they hold power in the USA that's far disproportionate to their actual numbers.

Don't even get me started on the references quoted in the links in the article. They come from sources like Concerned Women for America and Coral Ridge Ministries, just to name two. Articles like this one are written by people who take their information from others who think exactly like they do, and they all quote each other's work from one article to the next. Just one big circle jerk.

29. i'll proceed with my own agenda
the anti-asshole agenda.

the moral compass is broken because there exists people in this world who are hypocrites.

they speak of values, 'oh, we value life'. whose life i ask? the life of a dead Iraqi? 'Save the children, they scream.' Whose child, yours, mine? maybe. but only if they fit into your world view. definitely not the lives of the poor. those poor people just muddle everything up for the rest of us. and surely not the lives of liberals, we are the plague of your existence.

they preach the words of a man without recognizing the dichotomy of their own narrow-minded lives.

yes, by all means let's do away with gay people, because homosexuality is a sin.

they themselves are sinners. no one, according to the good book, is without sin.

i don't want to get to rid of them, i just wish there were less assholes in the world.

30. conservative billionares are the ones promoting violence and pornography
and, last time I checked, secular humanists supported marriage so much they they wanted to extend the rights and benifits of marriage to devoted homosexual couples, while traditional conservatives mock these couples while applauding Britney Spears and her ten hour marriage.

And regarding the point about the San Fran HS inviting Cindy Sheehan to speak the evils of the WoT: I don't even know if any of that is true, let alone any small part.

And, just for the record, every single person I know who has had a baby out of wedlock (and I know several) is from a Christian conservative family.
