1. It's not yet time
for this post. He's not on the court yet. I'm hoping against the odds that the dems will filibuster. And seeing as you posed this question. What do you think dems should be focusing on?

6. Our job now is to fight him not to crown him. The energy is building
ffor a filibuster and some republicans do not want to nuke. It is far from over, so keep calling and faxing and e-mailing and encouraging everyone you know to do the same.

2. Might I suggest that we

Alito's effect upon Mandatory Minimum Sentencing Guideline cases + the Privitization of Prisons = a burgeoning Prison Market. Prisons will be stuffed with people who become Career Criminals (have you ever seen Each Dawn I Die with James Cagney in it?) and people who feel there is no Justice gravitate toward violent revolution of one type or another. Thus, Alito and SCOTUS in this configuration contribute to the Social destabilization and, perhaps, eventual overthrow of the U.S.

MMSGs can be a broad issue, since they effect not only lower social-economic classes, but also middle-class families who have adolescents who make various kinds of "mistakes".

There is also the possibility of linking Communism into this scenario, since those in prison will undoubtedly feel they suffer from Economic Injustice and Communism/Socialism is a potential solution to economic injustice. Thus Justice Alito will lead to an increase in Communism in the U.S.

Keep your eye on the election. It is the only thing that matters.
