What could we say or do to get people to the polls between now...?
and November? There are a lot of "Democrats" that do not vote. They sit it out. I do believe that if they did vote, they would vote Democratic. What could we say or do to get them to the polls?

Should we appeal to their "patriotism"? Should we appeal to their duty as a countryman? Should we put the responsibility for this country's future squarely on their soldiers? Do we need to give civic lessons to the American people? Any ideas??

1. How about a direct correlation between how many votes would cancel out
out the people victimizing them and the rest of the world.Remind them of how much better of they were when Bill Clinton was President ,partially because record amount of people ,not just the religious right people showed up to vote.

2. Our local Democratic organizations base their calling and
door knocking scripts on local issues. In this state, that's education, but we also stress how easy it is to get in touch with our candidates (give them various forms of contact information) and tell them that the candidates WANT to hear from them.

Aside from that, you do run into this or that callee or door-knockee who brings up a specific issue, such as abortion. I always repeat and show them exactly how to get in touch with my candidate. I say the traditional Democratic issues are Health Care, Jobs and Education and if they still express a desire to talk about a hot button issue, like abortion, I tell them up front that I'm pro-Choice and I believe we should work together to reduce the number of abortions. It's also true that I support Adoption and (I know this is going to get me in trouble with some Democrats) Parental Consent IN MOST CASES. The point being that if they actually seem to want to know what a Democrat thinks, I work on the things I might actually agree with them about.

4. Some would suggest
that we tell everybody of our true intentions, and that is to win the House and Senate back so we may impeach and attempt to convict Bush. If that is a great idea, then we should run that flag up and see how it flies.
