Russia asked to explain putting Kuwaiti charities on terror list
http://english.people.com.cn/200609/04/eng20060904_299288.html

The Kuwaiti government has urged Russia to explain why it placed two Kuwaiti Islamic charities on its list of international terror organizations, local media reported on Sunday.

"Russian authorities should clarify why the Social Reform Society (SRS) and the Islamic Heritage Revival Society (IHRS) were listed (as terror organizations)," Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was quoted as saying.

Al-Sabah, who supervises the country's nongovernmental organizations, said the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry was seeking an explanation through diplomatic channels.

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Russia Sulaiman Al-Murjan also said that the activities of the two Kuwaiti organizations were monitored by the authorities and that Russia had given no evidence to prove these organizations' supports to terrorism.

1. Something lost in translation somewhere?
Apparently there's the Islamic Heritage Revival Society and there's the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society.

The Revival of Islamic Heritage Society is listed by the US government as a charity linked to funding of pro-Al Qaida madrasas, and there are a number of articles from around the world about their activities.

If the two groups are different then someone should just tell Russia that they've made a slight clerical error. If they're the same group then Kuwait needs to talk to a hell of a lot of other governments too.

2. I think it is just a case of Russia putting Islamic charities...
...from pro-USA countries on their terror list just to stick it to Bush. Just like Bush puts the ones in countries who don't bow down to him on our terror list.
