BUSH, CLINTON, LIMBAUGH, CRONKITE TO LAUNCH COURIC
Forget for the moment that it's on Drudge and just visualize it. (On second thought, it WAS Drudge after all that broke the Clinton launches Lewinsky story - you can find the Source at: http://drudgereport.com/flash2kg.htm)

Hmmm - Can't fathom the Bush & Limbaugh angle, and poor Walter would probably have a coronary in the process. But Bill's back, refueled, AND READY.

Launch --> Rocket --> long powerful thing with lots of stored energy! Add one perky anchor, stirr vigorously for 8 1/2 minutes and viola': more FCC fines than you can shake a stick at!

Sure beats boring labor day speeches! Will this be PPV or open for all to watch?

1. Why are they making such a fuss about this?
I'm sure she's a nice lady, intelligent and easy on the eyes, but was such a fuss made when Brian Williams took over at NBC?

5. Maybe because she's a pro-bush** hack disguised as a journalist?

11. It doesn't make her any different. It explains all the hype though. They
think all the ass kissing will be more palatable and credible coming from a smiley little woman who delivers the bad news and the lies and the propaganda in her own little 'perky' fashion.

4. I thought it was a newscast
Obviously CBS is now putting the evening news in the Entertainment category and not the News division. Too bad, but they lost me when they went from real journalists to 'personalities' such as Katie for the anchor. I will NOT be watching this week, next week, or any week thereafter. If I turn on tv for the nightly news that is what I'm looking for, not interviews, perky or otherwise.

6. My best guess is she'll last.....
for a few months at best...I hope! This grand opening is to do all they can with what they've got.....not much. Katie will never, after her demise, be able to say she didn't have support from day one. What on Earth has she been doing since she left her morning gig? Boy, she must have needed a lot of training. Can you tell I'm not a Katie fan?

13. God, I hope you're right
And for the record, I'm a woman. If they really wanted a woman, they could have promoted Thalia Assurace (not sure how that's spelled). Maybe some day Christianne Amanpour will get the recognition she deserves.

One of the African American men would be nice to see in the anchor chair, as well. Maurice Dubois is sure easy on the eyes. :)

I'm not going to accept a rw, infotainment hack just because she's a woman. Tonight will be the last night I watch CBS (except on weekends). I only hope my stomach makes it through all the hype about Couric.

8. If this is for real and Couric brings
Limpballs onto the show, even for a minute, she'll lose more than she gains. The average Limpballs listener thinks the networks are evil bastions of liberalism. They'll never switch away from FAUX - especially to watch a woman. And an appearance by Limpballs will have Dems - who haven't already tuned out - reaching for the channel selector. Dumb, dumb move.

Maybe she can book a Navy Seal or two. Didn't Couric famously giggle and swoon into the camera that they "rock"? Imbecile.

9. Next week: Coultergeist and Billo
She's a shill. How many times can I say it? She's cute, she's perky, and she gives way too much airtime to neo-fascist hacks.

10. So F***ing Stupid. News focus is terrible thing to waist...
The wonderful Ms. Carol Marin has summed it far better than I could...

This past week, while more American soldiers died in the morass of Iraq, phone rates threatened to skyrocket and enriched uranium was found at a facility in Iran, we as a nation just couldn't get enough of Katie's waistline.

...

Just imagine where we would be if reporters, Congress and the public had had the same relentless curiosity about Iraq before the war as we now have about Katie Couric before her debut.

12. I don't know what this means....
...but it means something.

Limbaugh routinely makes fun of Couric. He has lambasted her repeatedly. I heard him discussing
her new role at CBS and he's had nothing positive to say. He chided her comment that they would
provide more than just news...they would also put the news into context. Limbaugh, and several
of his callers ranted big time. They accused Couric of running a circus show that would interject
opinion into the news.

Now...Limbaugh will be a guest.

This is really baffling. It could simply mean that they're looking for a large audience. However,
I truly believe that CBS will attempt to establish Couric as a hard-hitting, credible journalist who
isn't fluff. CBS is worried that men won't take Couric seriously and that men don't want to get their
news from a woman.

I'm guessing that her first days at CBS will be spent trying to feverishly position her as credible
and tough. She's not just cute--she's chipmunk cute--and best known for her "perk." I bet she'll
purposely be tough (but not aggressive) with her interviewees---because CBS knows that a string of
fluffy interviews with big wigs will piss off EVERYONE.

I think there's a bit of promise here. It could be interesting. I predict that Limbaugh will be decimated
seven ways to Sunday.
