Why would a Dem break the Whip and vote for Alito - only for a bribe? Conrad and Nelson what's your story?

It might be the ONLY way we can get someone in DC to vote for our interests...

3. Maybe not, possibly blackmailed
I always have to wonder what someone has got on Ben Nelson for him to be such a consistent backstabber, selling out his constituents' rights at every turn.

And represent very conservative states. They will be voted out by their constituents who are mainly Rethugs. Libby Dole has been threatening Bennie Nelson with supplying funds to anyone who wishes to oppose him this year.

I would not miss Ben Nelson, but Conrad did a good job with the Budget stuff in explaining the pork and how it was not a deficit reduction package. You have to remember that SD in particular has 3 reps: 2 Senators, and One Congressman.

12. Agreed. Be careful of disinformation popping up in the next week.
They will do everything they can to dishearten us. Don't let the Psy Ops work.

11. No
They have a conservative constituency and are afraid of being voted out of office.
Simple as that.

13. That's why arguments appealing to Constitutional issues are the best
hope to convince them, imho. Even those Senators who may be pro-Choice themselves, if they have a considerable anti-Choice constituency, might not be willing to vote "No" on that basis. Constitutional issues, though, are something that might convince even a Republican, and so are easier for a Senator to cite, when defending a choice to vote "No."

That's the approach I'm using in my letters. The recent request for Google records does not hurt our case.

14. Bribe? Perish the thought. Campaign contributions aren't really bribes.
They're just being "practical" and "not as bad".
