(Indianapolis - WANE - AP) Former first lady Barbara Bush plans to visit Sellersburg later this month to raise money for US Representative Mike Sodrel. Sodrel faces Democrat Baron Hill in the 9th District congressional race. Bush will attend a September 12th event at the home of Bill and Teresa Boyd. The invitation says the cost is at least $250 per couple. For $1,500, a couple can attend an exclusive reception and have their photos taken with Bush, the mother of President Bush.

Indiana's 9th District race could be among the hardest-fought nationwide as Democrats try to gain control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Libertarian Eric Schansberg is also running for the 9th District seat.

The race has already drawn several political heavyweights to the state. Both President Bush and the First Lady have made trips to Indiana to campaign for Sodrell. Former President Bill Clinton came as well, for a fundraiser for Hill.
