6. Yes, she was a horrible, mean woman. It was strange, since

all the other teachers, mostly single and very well educated --ladies in the best sense of the word-- were wonderful people and great teachers. Why they started us off with the only bad one of the lot I'll never understand.

I first attended grammar school in 1948. There were few opportunities for college-educated women back then. It's sad how little paid or appreciated they were by the community. But they were great teachers.

I remember my first grade teacher's name, but I won't give her the honor of adding it to your list, especially since I haven't been asked to list those of all the wonderful grammar school teachers I had. But if Miss Henry or Miss Evans are looking down on this, here's to you both!

At 52 I can also tell you that she and my second grade teacher, Miss Aley were coming to my symphony concerts until the last few years. It was so fun to see them every month or so. They were ancient when they were my teachers, lol, but now they really are!

13. Not Sure Of The Value Here. Might As Well Phrase The Question As

"what can you remember more quickly, something you've heard within the last month or something from 30 years ago".

Sure, some might recall something from 30 years ago more readily, but overall it would be a no-brainer to assume that most people would go with the recent memory answer. That would most likely be the case no matter how you phrased the question.

Therefore, based on that logic, the end result of the question will probably be able to be determined prior to it even being asked. Probably not much that can be learned from asking it then.

14. Mrs. Higley

I didn't get on with her well. I do remember some great teachers. I had Mrs. Beaver twice, once in 2nd and once in 6th. In 6th I said one of those foot in mouth things "some boy is cute" when I meant that what he said was cute. She actually told the class that even if I had meant that the boy was cute they had no business making fun of me. That was gutsy back then and I never forgot that even as middle school became a living hell. I had two great 6th grade teachers. Mr. Munchler was the other one. I had the best government teacher Mr. Mason and a great calculus teacher Mr. Gilmore. My music teachers were uniformly terrific too. I can't say I rank with the best of what I had but I am far better than the worst I had.
