Dole Stumped When Asked To Name Anyone
Dole Stumped When Asked To Name Anyone(what Democrats) Who Believes ‘The Terrorists Can Be Appeased’
Sec. Rumsfeld last week compared Iraq war critics to Hitler appeasers. This morning on Fox News, Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) was asked to name someone — anyone — who actually believes “the terrorists can be appeased.” She couldn’t do it.

Instead, she went on an extended rant criticizing those who have “raised concerns” about the PATRIOT Act, the “Terrorist Surveillance Program” (i.e., warrantless domestic spying), and the missile defense system. The host then asked Dole whether that “goes to the level” of appeasement. She dodged the question a second time. Watch it:

1. Please Start Calling Them On The Strawman Army!
"They don't want us to spy on terrorists!" Who doesn't??? That usually means they want Bush to follow FISA laws. I get so pissed when they don't call them on this bull!

19. now now...
I am a former resident of NC and I have met her on the campaign trail. She is a lot of things, but fat, ugly bitch isn't one of them.

She is the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC)and much of her statements in the media reflect that role. The problem is that there is currently no statewide Democrats with name recognition that could actually win in NC. It takes more than dominating the vote in the urban portions of the state (Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Durham, Gastonia, Fayetteville) which Dems tend to do and get very little in the balance of the state.

20. No, she is not a "fat, ugly bitch"
What she is - a * apologist, a rubberstamp queen and pretty much useless when it comes to the state of NC.

I am frustrated that we here in NC are represented by Dole and Burr. They are useless and can only spout off rightwing talking points.

I've been in arguments with Dole's staff. They repeat rw talking points. It's frustrating and I call them on it. Then, of course, they still repeat the talking points almost as if they are zombies:

"Fight them over there so we won't fight them over here"
"It deserves an up or down vote"

etc., etc.

44. INTRODUCTION OF LEGISLATION TO AWARD THE CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL TO
BRITISH PRIME MINISTER TONY BLAIR

March 26th, 2003 - Mr. President.

I rise today to introduce legislation to award the Congressional Gold Medal to The Right Honorable Tony Charles Lynton Blair, Prime Minister of Great Britain, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service ..

Prime Minister Blair has had the vision to see that Saddam Hussein is a dangerous man who continues to pose a threat to the region’s stability, to his own people, and to the world through his sponsorship of terror.

The liberation of Iraq will be the beginning, not the end, of our commitment to the people of Iraq. We will work together to supply humanitarian relief and strive for the long-term recovery of Iraq’s economy ..

http://dole.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=FloorStatements.Detail&FloorStatement_id=10&Month=3&Year=2003

What a remarkable predictor of her legislative career ...

But the DLC crowd was hot for Erskine, who frankly was doomed to lose because of his name, and we had a stupid five-way D primary that Elaine didn't top.

27. The media seems to have run out of matches though.
The whole puke spin operation is one finely tuned straw weaving machine. The media, never and I mean never, calls them on it. I don't expect Wallace to say "You're full of shit you whack job." I do expect him to say, "Well that's nice Senator, so your answer then is no, there are in fact no Democrats who have said we should appease 'terrorists." Instead he and pretty much every other media personality simply give her (and the rest of the right's puking heads) a forum to spread their filth unchallenged.

5. Elizabeth Dole may have surrounded herself all her life with people
who don't do a whole lot of critical thinking.

When a reporter actually breaks down and asks her a real question, and holds her feet to the fire on a given point, she blusters and stammers and shimmies and wiggles her way out the back door.

A terrible administrator, an over-rated Cabinet official, a miserable excuse for a Senator, and a lazy citizen.

"This guy right here - he's in favor of appeasing terrorists!"

Really - this is the eleventeenth strategy they've tried, and it'll fail miserably just like this administration has at everything it's done.

And when they say that "some people don't want us listening to terrorists' phone calls," how about asking "Why?" and actually make them say either 1) because they want Osama bin Laden to be president of the US, or 2) admit that they're full of shit.

Personally, I don't want the Constitution to be the 2,977th casualty of 9/11. And I'd like it very much if we caught Osama rather than some tinhorn dictator that the US helped to gas his own people.

As more desperate repukelican pols spout this wingnut radio speak I expect and hope to see more of this.

Remember Jeff Gannon wasn't exposed until he finally asked the President one of those "when did the democrats stop molesting little boys" type questions.

And of course on Fox on Monday, Hannity will ask Mr Ann Colture and David Horowitz: "Aren't the democrats overreacting to being call fascist appeasers?

If you think that the American people are happy with the trampling of the Constitution, incompetence, dishonesty, culture of criminality and ignoring the rule of law that your party and the President represent, your in for a very rude awakening in future elections."

... even though no democrat actually believes that the terrorists can be appeased. This works for the Republicans because their zombies (their base) gave up rational thought long ago. It makes as much sense as the "I am mad as hell about taxes! Look at that John Kerry--he has lots of money and wants the government to raise taxes!" meme they spew forth every now and again.
