This is our Dem spokesperson out there saying this. Why was that necessary? He's such a gentleman, showing that Dems are above bringing "politics of personal destruction" (Repug Talking Point) into a discussion. :sarcasm:

He's hawking a book, too.

Just now on CNN Sunday.

2. Yes, and he was quite vicious in his attacks on Lamonot.
Yet he feels affection for bush.

Do we need to know any more?

4. He also said Joe Lieberman is his sons Godfather! Whaaaaa?
He then went on to say that Democrats "demonized" Republicans during Reagan and Poppy's administration and it's time for the "name calling and demonization to stop" because it all "backfired when Clinton came into power and the Repugs did it in reverse." :eyes:

I'm sorry, Lanny but the Right wing mouthpieces like Coulter, Limpballs and the Fox Crowd and Malkin need to have Dems call them out. I don't know who Lanny thinks on the left is as vicious at that Repug Crowd on the Left. I sure wish he had given us some names so I could e-mail them my compliments. Obviously Lanny knows some people that we need to hear more from.

6. He's supposedly upset by anonymous comments
...posted at "The Daily Kos" and "The Huffington Post."

He lists online names, but we don't know who these commenters really are.
http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110008763

Is "tomjones" real name Tom Jones? Even if it is, there a lot of Tom Jones in the world, and there is no website link from that name in the comments. Also, "tomjones" was being sarcastic in the comment Lanny J. Davis is trying to portray as anti-semtic.

9. Thanks for that link. Calling Lefty Dems who e-mail McCarthyites?
His vitriol should have been directed at the Ann Coulter's and Rush Limbaughs every time he appears on the Pundit Shows as a Democratic spokesperson. For him to single out some e-mailers as examples of Left McCarthyism is very vile. I've never thought he was a good spokesperson for Dems and he did nothing to ever defend Clinton during MonicaGate and in fact seemed to side with the Repug witch hunters...but then if Lieberman is his son's godfather then I guess he was taking Lieberman's sanctimonious side against Clinton.

CAMPAIGN 2006

Liberal McCarthyism
Bigotry and hate aren't just for right-wingers anymore.

BY LANNY J. DAVIS
Tuesday, August 8, 2006 12:01 a.m. EDT

WASHINGTON--My brief and unhappy experience with the hate and vitriol of bloggers on the liberal side of the aisle comes from the last several months I spent campaigning for a longtime friend, Joe Lieberman.

This kind of scary hatred, my dad used to tell me, comes only from the right wing--in his day from people such as the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy, with his tirades against "communists and their fellow travelers." The word "McCarthyism" became a red flag for liberals, signifying the far right's fascistic tactics of labeling anyone a "communist" or "socialist" who favored an active federal government to help the middle class and the poor, and to level the playing field.

I came to believe that we liberals couldn't possibly be so intolerant and hateful, because our ideology was famous for ACLU-type commitments to free speech, dissent and, especially, tolerance for those who differed with us. And in recent years--with the deadly combination of sanctimony and vitriol displayed by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Michael Savage--I held on to the view that the left was inherently more tolerant and less hateful than the right.

Now, in the closing days of the Lieberman primary campaign, I have reluctantly concluded that I was wrong. The far right does not have a monopoly on bigotry and hatred and sanctimony. Here are just a few examples (there are many, many more anyone with a search engine can find) of the type of thing the liberal blog sites have been posting about Joe Lieberman:

11. Taylor Marsh rebuttal of Lanny's calling Lefty Bloggers "Liberal McCarthy-

ites." A good read as I wasn't aware of Lanny's going after bloggers who supported Lamont until I posted about his dreadful performance yesterday.

---------------------------------------

You'd think after Bill Clinton's presidency was hijacked in the 1990s, Lanny Davis would have gotten a clue.

If Lanny Davis wanted to really understand how Joe got in trouble he would have asked the people of Connecticut. I don't know how many other ways to say it, but it's the people of Connecticut who gave Lamont his standing, not the bloggers, unless you're talking about the locals, yet again.

But the oddest thing in this op-ed is Lanny's claim that a friend of his was afraid for his life, because he was supposedly threatened when he spoke out for Joe. He cites others who post on the blogs who use hate speech, while labeling all of us in that group.

Yesterday, CNN did a story on the blogs without bothering to speak to one person who actually owned a blog. Oh, except they did interview Charles Johnson of LGF about his fake Reuters picture posts. No liberal bloggers were featured anywhere, at least that I saw.

12. Agree....he seemed to ignore all of that. He's more focused on Liberal
/McCarthy Bloggers who went after his buddy and are pushing Lamont. To him, I guess, it's the death of the Dem Party. :eyes:

10. Undergraduate friend of Bush's at Yale and a friend of Hillary at Yale
Law School...according to Google Search. RW "Powerline" has an article about Lanny being buddies with Bush and tells of LA Times Article about why Lanny has such high personal regard for Bush. I didn't google to find the LA Times article and I won't link Powerline scum.

But, Lanny's friendship for Bush and later with Hillary would explain some of his "conflict." :eyes:
