As soon as commercials are over...coming up... a story on the attention Keith's rant against Rummy is getting on the Internet!

12. I basically live in Marriotts
Most don't carry MSNBC or Comedy Central. So I miss my two favorite shows which are Daily Show and KO.

However, they do carry HBO so I do get to see a number of my other favs including Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage.

3. Naturally, they are now dragging out other stuff as much as possible
Edited on Sun Sep-03-06 11:20 AM by BerryBush
Now they have David Winston vs. Craig Crawford on Iraq. Nice to see Crawford again, though. This is the second time I've seen him today.

on edit: I know what it's like to be in a hotel with no MSNBC and be frustrated...I'm such a Countdown fan that I try to choose my hotels based on whether or not they get MSNBC, but sometimes that's just not possible...

5. Love Crawford's comments, too.
Saying he thinks Americans should be asked to invest and sacrifice more in the war on terror rather than being told "Be afraid, be very afraid, but don't DO anything--sit back and let us take care of it."

13. "Has created a huge buzz on the Internet..."
Edited on Sun Sep-03-06 11:45 AM by BerryBush
Winston and Crawford are back to debate!

Winston: "Venomous...not an argument, a personal attack...he needs to go back and check up his history books...Chamberlain and Churchill had a higher level of discourse...Keith needs to go back and read his history books."

Crawford: "This administration has invited this venom of this crtiticism...they use phrases like 'cut and run'...they don't want to listen to what people like Jimmy Carter have to say...they have invited this vituperative reaction by demanding trust rather than earning it."

Winston: "When you take this argument down to the level Olbermann did, this is really the gutter, venomous stuff...you do nothing for the cause...you just drag it farther into the mud."

Crawford: "No, the administration has invited this. I have always thought this administration made a terrible mistake by getting quick authorization to invade Iraq...they short circuited a national debate and are now paying the price for it because the American people never got a chance to debate this...the administration insisted on a quick vote and no national debate."

Winston: "There was plenty of leadup time...a year...20 years if you count the question of the effect Iraq was having on the world..."

Crawford "Not in the public at large!!"

Crawford got the last word...LOL!

Thank you, MSNBC!

15. Anyway, we now know what the Repug/admin spin on this is.
"Keith Olbermann was so VENOMOUS...this was a terrible, unprovoked ATTACK...he is dragging the level of discourse into the mud by getting EMOTIONAL and being ANGRY...and he doesn't know his history as well as he thinks he does."

So typical. They always try to present themselves as the party of reason and rationality and to depict emotionalism as a weakness rather than a strength. In their world, there is only one way to express righteous anger, and that is by killing "the enemy"--whichever enemy THEY choose.

If you oppose them, and you do it angrily, they counteract with "What's the venom? What's the anger? What did we ever do to make you get so irrationally upset with us?"

Crawford was great, because he said EXACTLY what it was that they did that made people like Olbermann upset. RATIONALLY, RIGHTEOUSLY upset.

People who don't get a voice or a chance to make an important decision, who are constantly being told "Stay out of this and let us handle it because we know best," DO tend to get angry--especially when they see what those people who said "We know best" are doing, and it is FAILING.

17. It's the only way they can defend themselves.
They know they've been caught doing wrong. So they hope to deflect attention by pointing to their critic and saying "HE started it. HE hit me below the belt!"

Yeah, sure. The rest of us know better. Fear not: the American public--most of it, anyway--now has a pretty good sense of what is going on. And they won't fall for the spin anymore.

21. Where is the Repug criticism
of truly venonmous commentators like Rush, Coulter, Hannity? Olbermann's remarks were temperate in comparison.

18. Thanks for the recap for those of us who couldn't watch. Craig Crawford
is always so good. I know he broke his arm and maybe that's why he hasn't been on so much lately. Good to hear he's back.
