Republican Steve Buyer hold up Merchant Marine Compensation Bill
Merchant Marines ask you to call Congress! They need you to ask that (S.1272) be passed

Summary:Marchant Marine veterans of WW2 are asking the public to call thier U.S. Congress members to make sure they have signed a petition to allow Congress to vote on a bill which will give $1,000 to surviving Merchant Mariners who served in WW2.

quote: "If not for the Merchant Marine operating ships and carring troops, ammunition ,guns, supplies.gasoline, oil and everything they needed overseas in World War 2 we could all be speaking Germen or Japanese roday,"Hazel Lewis

However, although H.R. 23 or (S1272) HAS BEEN CO-SPONSORED BY 263 OF 435 members of Congress, the bill has been blocked by Congressman Steve Buyer, chair of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs. To get the bill out of committee and back on the House floor,Congressman Bob Filner (D) who introduced the bill on JAN.4 2005 in the House,is asking members of Congress to sign Discharge Petition Number 14 to allow a vote on the bill and to cosponsor H>R> 23 they need 218 members to sign the petition.

THIS IS HOW THEY DO IT PEOPLE J.DENNIS HASTERT HAS HIS CHAIRMENS HOLD UP BILLS IN COMMITTEE
THE REPLUGS PUSHED THEIR RIGHT WING JUDGES SAYING JUST ALLOW A VOTE THEY ARE HYPOCRITES WHEN IT COMES TO SUPPORTING REAL PEOPLE.

(202)224-3121 and ask for your congress person
