I bet you didn't know you had something in common with the NRA:
Opposition Dooms Sale of Forest Land

Even groups that typically ally themselves with Bush criticized the plan to raise money for rural communities by selling protected land.

A Bush administration proposal to sell 300,000 acres of national forest land — a quarter of it in California — to raise money for rural counties has been shelved amid widespread opposition.

Congress refused to move the legislation this summer, and groups that typically ally themselves with the president, such as the National Rifle Assn., came out against the measure, spelling its doom in this congressional session.

Agriculture Undersecretary Mark Rey, the proposal's chief architect, acknowledged as much last month when he agreed to find other funding for the program, which finances rural schools and roads.

"That's the most likely outcome for this year," Rey said this week. Asked if the administration would attempt to revive the sales proposal next year, he said, "I don't think we know that."

12. I have always said that this is where the dems can win
by reaching out to "sportsmen" that care that their deer, fish and other game are threatened by environmental destruction. A lot of these people take the land seriously and most of them never get good information.

18. Yep, IMO hunting should be seen as a form of Eco-Tourism.
It gives communities an economic incentive to preserve wilds areas that arn't "flashy" enough to attract other forms of eco-tourism.

3. Isn't it ironic that Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican set established

the system of National Parks and protected
Federal Lands. Bush is selling out America
body and soul down to the ground under your
feet.

When the NRA and the Conservancy movement
sides with Democrats the world has become
the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, when words mean
"what we say they mean. Nothing more, nothing
less."

7. One of the social sicknesses of living in the Modern World, is that
you lose your attachment to things that won't help you claw yourself up in your quest to becoming a 1%er.

4. This is a good example of what I was trying to explain to my
neo-con brother.

What we have in common far outweighs our differences, but he would

rather be filled with hate and fear and not listen to anyone but

Rush.

(Sigh)

8. Another word we can agree on, "corruption."

Say what they will about what they believe in politically, they have to agree that the boys in Congress who represent them, are not selfless when it comes to making personal gain at public expense.

better either know how to use your gun, or have a really good friend with good aim.

election, gun control will be the first issue the Democrats will drop.
