Our lawmakers should take a cue from the Mexicans

<snip>
"The cancellation of his last state-of-the-nation speech as leftist lawmakers stood in the chambers holding banners calling him a traitor was a stark contrast to Fox's 2000 historic victory, which Mexico rejoiced as proof that the country had finally become a true democracy."

How awesome would it be if our legislators prevented Bush from delivering his next SOTU speech? I would love to see some sort of civil disobedience, perhaps even blocking Chimpie from taking the podium, drowning him out when he tries to talk.

3. I sure wish the Dems would show more spine.
I do not think they are loud enough.

4. apparently true democracy was fine as long as they were winning,
the test of democracy is that the losers respect the majority opinion.

5. Losers?
If you're referring to the Mexican election, there is ample evidence to indicate that the election was far from fair.

7. right. the "losers" are in the middle of stealing another election.
rather than allowing the will of the people to prevail.

a lack of curiosity about 'irregularities' is a giveaway. just like elections here, just like 9/11, just like everything.

6. Of course, for that to happen...

We would need millions upon millions of people camped out at the mall much like the Mexicans in the Zocalo in Mexico City. If we get sufficient civil disobedience, congress will be forced to take a stand. But, the majority are more concerned about their McMansions, SUV's, and rampant consumerism...

Edited for spelling.
