Lapdogs: How the Press Rolled Over for Bush
Eric Boehlert

Eric Boehlert discusses his latest book, "Lapdogs: How the Press Rolled Over for Bush." He argues that the press is apprehensive about being critical of the Bush administration because they do not want to be accused of demonstrating a liberal bias. He argues that conservatives have gained greatly from the media's weak coverage of the Republican administration. Mr. Boehlert looks at the way the media covered the investigation into Karl Rove's role in the Valerie Plame outing, Whitewater, the Terry Schiavo right to die case, and Al Gore's 2000 presidential bid. He also examines the Bush and Clinton administrations' manipulation of the press and suggests that liberals need to learn how to better articulate their message to the press. Strand Bookstore in New York City hosted this event.

Eric Boehlert is a journalist and a contributing editor at Rolling Stone. He writes extensively on media, politics, and pop culture. His writings appear in the Hufffington Post website and Salon.com.

4. He's a really nice guy

We met him at the Take Back America Conference in June. Eric was there for several book signings. My husband got to talk to him for quite a while and they hit it off. For the rest of the conference Eric went out of his way to say to say "hello" to us.

It's a great book too.
