6. I confess: it's an encore.
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 11:20 AM by TahitiNut
I came up with that when CatWoman :loveya: posted the same MrFish cartoon earlier this week.
(Yes. I'm proud to have a mind sick and twisted enough to think of it.) :dunce:

13. "noon"?? (Wow) Even when I drank, I waited for "under the yardarm"
... a euphemism for late afternoon.

"The sun has fallen under the yardarm somewhere in the world. Let's drink!"

17. I don't know where the noon phrase came from.
It's been a mighty long time since I've used it and meant it. I'll store your yardarm phrase for Talk like a pirate day (Sept. 19). Arrrr....

19. Aye matie!
Jack Sparrow: Why is the rum gone?
Elizabeth: One, because it is a vile drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. Two, that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire royal navy is out looking for me. Do you really think that there is even the slightest chance that they won't see it?
Jack Sparrow: But why is the rum gone?

20. Excellent pirattitude!
"Arrr! We've not be tardy .... for sure it was a hard job cap'n but we've found and tested the best pirate drinks ever poured. Some of our ship mates are but burly bait now ... we lost 'em on the way but if ye have guts that can take maggoty tack gone green and good sea legs and can focus yer one good eye on the bar ... haul in the supplies, make room in the focsle and blend 'em up in five gallon jars. Garn get 'em into ye."
I think this would take the edge off the illustrious Sparrow:
Navy Grog
1/2 oz Bacardi® light rum
1/2 oz Bacardi® gold rum
1/2 oz Bacardi® dark rum
1/2 oz Grand Marnier® orange liqueur
1 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz orange juice
1 oz pineapple juice
Pour liquors into an ice-filled collins glass. Add juices, shake, and garnish with an orange wedge and pineapple chunk.

More'n one of these beauties would surely send ye to Davy Jones's Locker for a spell, as yer deadlights would be crossed like the bones on the Jolly Roger.

Many more recipes and amusing other info at the site.
