My one question about Armitage and Novak
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 10:54 AM by chimpsrsmarter
ok this is from last weeks MTP, it's part of a transcript, please tell me if you think this confirms that it was Armitage, i don't think it does but maybe i'm reading it wrong. Maybe Armitage did talk but i don't think he was Novaks main source. Please and thank you.

Russert:The article goes on to quote State Department Intelligence Chief Carl Ford as saying Armitage said, “I’m afraid I’m the guy who may have caused all this,” and that he had met with one Robert Novak on July 8, Mr. Armitage did. Are you now prepared to say, confirm Newsweek that Richard Armitage was one of your sources?

MR. NOVAK: I told Mr. Isikoff, the investigator—he’s a very good investigative reporter, by the way—but I told him that I do not identify my sources on any subject if they’re on a confidential basis until they identify themselves. I don’t say that somebody was or wasn’t. I’m going to say one thing, though, I haven’t said before. And that is that I believe that the time has way passed for my source to identify himself.

3. It's 'no comment' writ wordy.
He's asked, "Was it Armitage?"

"I'm not saying."

The only hint is that Novak's saying that he thinks the source should have self-identified by now. The problem is the hint's ambiguous: is it because Armitage's name was being so handily bandied about, or for some other reason?

Moot point.
