Would you watch "Death of a President"?
Its the new documentary style film someone in the UK made. Bush gets asassinated, and they show the aftermath of that. Saw it on CNN, just seeing what you guys thought about this.

that he has crossed over the line. That's what I think. I think there had to be money
and influence behind this, movies don't get made on a shoestring except for the attack
of the killer tomatoes. Bush dragged Britain into the Iraq War and this is what we got out
of his leading Blair around by the nose, I would definitely want to see it.

screening, I would attend it.

That would mean that a major film distributor would have to back it.

Totally inappropriate for a film to depict the assination of
ANY current head of State. Bush in a cell in The Hague? Yes!

Taking a dirt nap? No-except by natural causes.

This film serves no purpose whatsoever.

36. This film serves no purpose whatsoever -- agreed
It'll be used as RW fodder against the left, that's all.

I will probably watch it, though, to see what happens next in the film, because I firmly believe that in reality nothing positive could come from such an action.

Besides, shooting's too good for him. I want to see him bundled off to the Hague to finally feel the full weight of the law on him.

A lot of people watch porn,or something else that might be objectionable to others, Maybe a lot of people out there fantasize about such a thing happening.

But if it showed a bunch of whiny rightwingers going nuts over him,I would have to leave. It would make me too sick to watch it.

Bu$h is our enemy and he IS a terrorist. The world would be better off without him,but I would prefer him getting impeached and brought up for war crimes, because I don't like killing of any kind...even when it comes to dim-son. It is my fantasy to see him get what he deserves......locked up in a prison cell in isolation for the rest of his life. He would then have plenty of time to think about all the unnecessary deaths he has caused and the damage he has inflicted on our country.

Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 10:05 PM by Radio_Lady
I don't know if any American film distributor will take it on. It's a pretty hot potato, especially if it were screened so close to the 2006 mid-term elections, to be sure.

Ed Schultz commented on it on today's show (Friday, September 1, 2006). I didn't hear his whole show, and I'm also not sure if the show was live or a re-run.

Essentially, he was against supporting this film. I'm still trying to gathering information on "Death Of A President".

Here's an article from today's Chicago Tribune:

Film depicting assassination of Bush to premiere

By Tina Daunt
Los Angeles Times
Published September 1, 2006, 6:41 AM CDT

A new film mixing archival footage and computer-generated special effects to portray the fictional assassination of President George W. Bush will premiere Sept. 10 at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival—and is already kicking off a firestorm of controversy.

British filmmaker Gabriel Range said "Death of a President"—which is done in a documentary style that has been described as eerily real—is intended to be a thought-provoking critique of the current political landscape. "It's a striking premise," Range conceded in a statement. "But it's a serious film which I hope will open up the debate on where current U.S. foreign and domestic polices are taking us."

In the film, President Bush prepares to deliver a speech to business leaders in Chicago, where he is confronted by a massive antiwar demonstration. Unperturbed, Bush goes ahead with the visit, but as he leaves the venue, he is gunned down by a sniper. While the nation mourns, the hunt for his killer—a Syrian-born gunman—swings into action. Range said he reviewed hundreds of hours of footage of Bush to make the film as realistic as possible.

A call to the White House for comment was not immediately returned. Festival officials were unavailable for comment Thursday, but festival director Noah Cowan praised the film in a posting on the festival's Web site: "This is easily the most dangerous and breathtakingly original film I have encountered this year."

It's examining the aftermath (America's reaction;with it's "post 911" mentality) - the assassination is just the vehicle to get us there. It could have just as easily of been another WTC kind of thing - but the world already knows how America reacts to things like that.(Badly. Criminally. Stupidly. Fearfully)

If America isn't strong enough to stand up to the scrutiny, Americans might want to ask themselves why.

this movie. I have no desire one way or the other to watch, it does seem a tad unseemly.

But isn't the hypocrisy of the repugs just priceless? Coultergeist (and others) have advocated killing Bill Clinton for years, accused him and Hillary of a whole laundry list of crimes, made jokes about it, etc. etc. etc. But let someone do a fictional movie about Chucklenuts and they scream foul? Sorry folks, you guys are the ones who introduced the genre of killing a president to the world so suck it up and buy some popcorn, this is right down your bloodthirsty little alleys.

They can dish it out but can't take it.

41. one Brit's take on this movie

George W. Bush is unpopular among British students. Channel 4's audience is mainly the British student population. Therefore this show has guaranteed good viewing figures. Channel 4 likes to make as much money as possible from its audience. Well done Channel 4, but try not to swim around too much in that huge pool of cash that you're about to earn from all this hype and ooh controversial press coverage! - David Gale, Cardiff, UK

45. Except this will be shown of More4, their digital channel "for adults"
(that was how they advertised it when setting it up - knowing it's a double entendre). More4 does tend to be less frivolous than Channel 4 - more documentaries, more 'serious' films, and when it does do comedy, it's stuff with a bit more 'edge' - eg it show the Daily Show, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, as opposed to Friends. More4 isn't really a 'student' channel at all - so David Gale's comments don't mean much. Putting it on More4 in itself shows they don't expect huge viewing figures for it.

It really was the Pugs who started this direct personal slams on their aponents. The Dems have taken the high road for too long, and we sure should have learned that IT DOESN'T WORK!

The RW is going to go nuts, just like they did with Michael Moore, but I say TS! When you hate filled people finally decide that's a bad thing to do, I say air this film on American TV SEVERAL TIMES!
