Vote DOWN Shrub's slogan "Don't Mess with TX" in ad contest

The dude who came up with the anti-litter slogan, "Don't mess with Texas," was interviewed. He was blithely self-satisfied about how his handiwork was so successful for so many years and "was even used by pResident (Shrub) in his campaign."

I distinctly remember how Shrub used it as a BULLY and as a THREAT: "Do not even THINK of looking into my record as Texas governor the way Poppy TRASHED DUKAKIS and MASSACHUSETTS. Don't look into how the governorship in Texas is largely ceremonial and powerless, or how all I did was to give corporate polluters breaks and to make sweetheart deals for my fatcat cronies."

The a-hole referred the audience into voting for his slogan, "So that things like 'Got Milk' won't win. And DMWT will be put into cement in New York City and those Easterners will HAVE TO LOOK AT DMWT every day."

There are tons of good competitors in the finals. Please DU for anything BUT dmwt.

I don't think anything could ever beat that slogan. It's positive, it's constructive, it made a real difference, it empowered people to do something for their friends whereas before they might have remained silent.

The funniest thing I ever saw in Texas was a car in a parking lot. It was a hatchback, and the whole rear of the car was loaded with trash, like empty wrappers and wadded paper, plastic soda bottles, half-eaten junk food, you name it. This car looked like a dump on wheels. You can guess what it had for a bumper sticker: DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS.

Well, at least they weren't throwing it on the roadways :)

And they all sucked. I finally settled on "Good to the last drop" because it's actually quote from Teddy Roosevelt.
