They're doing it again! RW'ers predicting the end of the world on 9/12/06

You think they'd shut up after their dreams of world domination/destruction were shut down when August 22, 2006 turned out to be just another regular day, but no, they're doing it again.

"Yisrayl Hawkins, well known Bible scholar and author, reports that the Bible predicts the exact date and the location that nuclear war will begin. Hawkins states that the current crisis in the Middle East will go nuclear on September 12, 2006 in the area around the Euphrates River. According to Yisrayl Hawkins, the countdown to nuclear war began with the signing of the Oslo accords on the White House lawn on September 13, 1993. He then cites prophecies in the book of Revelation showing that nuclear war would begin a year, a month and a day prior to the end of the Oslo agreement.

Yisrayl Hawkins has a worldwide following. His Prophetic Word Program, focusing on peace through education, is broadcast 24 hours a day on the Hotbird 6 satellite, reaching Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. These "end-of-the-world" nuts have been with us forever. In America alone, there have been dozens of these dates put forward, often accompanied by expectant cult members clustered on a hillside somewhere, waiting to be wafted into space by baby Jesus or taken by aliens or whatever their wacko leader has told them will happen.

What gets me is what happens after the world does not end on the appointed day, as it never does. You would think these people would slink off in embarrassed disgrace. NO! Usually, the non-occurrence of the prophesied event is cited as proof that the prophecy was correct! Or, they "re-examine their data" and predict a new date at some point in the future.

The thing to do is to ask these people in advance what they would say if their Blessed Event does not occur.
