1. Not surprised
He was on my short list, too.

He was infamous as the king of pork prior to 1994.

2. Sen Byrd has said that he will lift the hold
So, that now should be the end of this.

3. Not the point.

My issue is as much with the contemptuous "secret hold" bullshit as it is with the actual spending madness and obscenity. He can rationalize and say whatever he likes about his reasons after the fact- but the fact is he's been caught. I can't and won't dismiss my contempt for what he did simply because of the (D). Transparency is transparency and "secret hold" garbage is authoritarian garbage. It's OUR MONEY.

Sorry to rant and don't mean it in any directed way except at Congress. It's how I feel about it.

4. You should have learned after his votes for the Nazi judges and
the anti worker bankruptcy bill.

5. True enough.

Actually the list of Dems overall on in the matters of porkkbarrel spending and the slopping at the same mil/defense lobby money troughs as pubs (it's about 60-40 pubs/dems)is plenty long enough...

What angers me beyond that in this case is the secret hold skullduggery.
I knew at the onset of the story that it was *possible* to see a Dem name, but my money was on a Republican or two just like Stevens.

Howard Dean has been circulating a blistering petition and condemnation regarding the Stevens secret hold. I had a link to it here at DU just today.

Byrd now puts him and Dems in a very smelly position of having to publicly address the same grievances over the secret hold crap with which he/we've been attacking Stevens.

It SUCKS.

6. More crickets...
This, like the vanishing rawstory/usnewswire press release (and the press conference that didn't take place?) on the Bush/Verizon subpoena story bugs nobody but one or two like me?
