Bush vows U.S. will stay in Iraq to the last drop of someone else's blood
http://english.people.com.cn/200609/01/eng20060901_298625.html

U.S. President George W. Bush said Thursday that U.S. troops will not leave Iraq until the "job" is done in the Middle East country.

"The war we fight today is more than a military conflict," Bush said at the annual national convention of the American Legion, a veterans' group, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Terming the war on terror as "the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century," Bush said victory in Iraq would require more sacrifice.

"This war will be difficult. This war will be long. And this war will end in the defeat of the terrorists," Bush said.

1. One of the things that make me maddest
is when anyone, repugs and democrats say something about "winning the war on terror", or in this case "defeating the terrorists". Every intellegent person who is NOT spouting a talking point knows that this WAR on terrorism CANNOT be won. There will ALWAYS be someone who is so oppressed enough or fanatical enough to commit terrorism. It will NOT end. Period. There is NO winning this so-called war. We could try to slow it down or we could try to prevent the attacks, but it cant be WON.
rant off.

5. yeah and even if it could
distracting all attention to some place like Iraq, which even the preznit now has been forced to admit, had nothing to do with 9/11, certainly ain't the way to win it.
Meanwhile there is chaos reigning in Afghanistan-that was the war that was related to 9/11....go figure :eyes:

8. I think terrorism can be largely defeated
But it would require that Bush's base, the haves and the have-mores, would have to give back some of their societal plunder and agree to a fairer and more equitable society.

But I rate that as somewhere between "snowball's chance in hell" and "not gonna happen, wouldn't be prudent."

3. Riiiight. We'll have a big victory parade when there is no more terror.
By that time the war on terror will have turned us into a dictatorship.

4. Cowards don't go to war.
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld ...

all are cowards ...

How could veterans stand for this coward to spout this bs? Are they brain damaged?

6. Why should Bush or any Ruler care about
the disposable people? That class is for being used up. Their dreams and hopes and aspirations are ludicrous.

They don't count.

7. What a fool...his very actions have ensured that terrorism will
never be stopped. Everye newborn baby has the potential to be a terrorist, as they are told the story of the U.S. invasion. And innocents will pay the price!
