Finally, UN to send peacekeepers to Darfur....
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-08-31-darfur_x.htm

UNITED NATIONS — The United Nations Security Council on Thursday overwhelmingly approved the deployment of a 17,300-strong U.N. force in Sudan's strife-torn Darfur region, as the United States pressed the Sudanese government to accept the plan.
Twelve of the council's 15 members voted in favor of the resolution, which states that the deployment would take place "on the basis of the acceptance of the (Sudanese) government." China, Russia and Qatar abstained.

1. Didn't you hear? Bolton says Sudan'll just agree now, but
Sudan's never said it would, and its agreement is required. The UN isn't going to send peacekeepers to Darfur until that time.

3. The Sudanese have announced they're readying an offensive
in Darfur.

After that's all done and things are to Khartoum's liking, expect a token force to be deployed. Maybe. Only if it includes a lot of volunteer petroleum engineers. That speak Chinese.
