It's not Islamic FASCISM, it's Islamic CONSERVATISM.
Consider the following:

Opponents are to be killed. No negotiation is permissible.
It's acceptable to plunder the resources of a country in pursuit of the Cause.
Slandering your opponent is preferable to competing in the marketplace of ideas.
War is always the first option, not the last.
"We" can't be questioned because we're doing God's will.
"We" know it's God's will, because we're doing it.
The sacred tests must be selectively read, removing all references to peace, justice, or tolerance.
Enemies can be anyone - even people from the same community (if they) disagree with you.
The electoral process is a waste of time. God has already spoken.
Only fundamentalists have "true religion".
"We" can do or say anything we want to our enemies ...
... but we treat our friends very, very well.

Oh - and Islamists oppose gay marriage, too.

Sound like any group we know?

2. Dissenting
Since this whole discussion is about the proper use of words, let me say that conservatism is not the right word to describe the ideology of either al Qaida or the Bush regime.

Of course, what Mr. Eskow enumerates are the characteristics of both, which is why both need to be swept into the dust bin of history.

I've gone on record as saying that I find nothing wrong with calling Jihadism a form of fascism or proto-fascism in that it rejects the Enlightenment tendency to universal citizenship, but I'll stop doing it if it offends the great mass of Muslims who oppose Jihadist terrorism.

I've also said, time and again, that the Bush regime is post-fascist, not conservative. I make no apologies for that.

6. *APPLAUSE*
That's exactly what it is, if you look at the political positions of some of these Islamic radicals, they mirror the right-wing when it comes to religion being involved in government.

8. It is Conservatism. The goals are the same.
Establishment of a society where religion is taught in schools.

Women and minorities are second-class citizens

And the ruling elite run all the corporations, and have all the money, while the rest live in squalor.
