A time when "Mission Accomplished" meant something ..
In May of 1943, after the Allies had finally defeated Rommel and the Axis at Tunis after months of bitter fighting in North Africa (an Axis defeat that Goebbels privately called a "second Stalingrad"), General Omar Bradley sent a two-word message to General Dwight Eisenhower: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Other than the obligatory military parade down the main boulevard of Tunis (a parade that Ike did not think was appropriate, but the locals wanted it), there was no vainglorious strutting or crowing. There were no show-piece carrier landings or preening in cod-pieces. In fact, Patton and other generals had already started the training for an invasion of Sicily. Much, much more blood would flow, and Bradley and Eisenhower knew it.

I think that sixty years to the month after victory in North Africa, Bu$h and Rove were trying to channel Omar Bradley and Dwight Eisenhower in a publicity stunt that actually reeked of plagiarism. In retrospect, "Shock 'N Awe" was - at best - a Pyrrhic victory: look at where we are now. But we knew then that the celebration was premature. Dogs and cats knew.

3. The comparisons between WWII & Iraq by the Bush cabal
are patently absurd.

But they are aware of the large number of downright stupid motherfuckers in this country.

4. The comparison (my comparison) is between men and mice.
Or men and rats.

5. Bush's Mission was Accomplished
Defeating Saddam was his mission...

Now before the attacks read on: The mission was to remove a client who was no longer subservient to American Demands and place a new Ruler who would be endebted for the next 20-40 years. The idea was for Chalabi to be that Ruler, but Chalabi is also palying Iran as well as us and that made US mad!!!

What the Ruler does to the Iraqis in the future is immaterial.

This would allow the massive gouging of, not only the Iraqi economy (Oil) but also the gouging of the American Budget and extreme profits for some select company.

Now if a few thousand or 100,000 Iraqis perished it was too bad. And if (as of right now) 2639 Americans died and 20,000 were wounded well who says they were ever going to do anything with their lives anyway. And after all that is what that Class of people is for, they are th cogs of industry and the military and sometimes cogs have to be used until they are burned out and discarded.

War is a Racket.
