400 Protesters Greet Bush in Nashville (photos)
Yesterday, some 400 protesters lined the street outside Loew's Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel in order to give the worst president ever a very rude welcome to Nashville. . . .

According to a recent poll, "just 36 percent of Tennesseans approve of Bush's job performance." In other words, we here in Tennessee are sick and tired of the miserable failure of a pResident. Just like the rest of the nation, we are ready for a Bushtemberfest Holiday.

17. Thank you
for all the kind words. I think Fox News must own all media outlets in this state. The five or six Republican protesters are the news of the day. Thank gawd they don't own blogs or the internet (yet?).

5. Thanks for the link!
I'll have to forward these to a republican friend of mine who is disappointed with Bush. She was telling me her boyfriend (who loves Bush) had just returned from Tennessee and was able to get a glimpse of Bush's motorcade. She said he was just giddy about it.

7. They put a fence along the sidewalk
so we were in a very long and narrow line along a busy street. It was very hard to get a photo of the whole crowd. The last time Bush was at this location, they just put a cage in the street for us. Even though we were caged in, it was a lot easier to mingle than this time. I mean the sidewalk was narrow and there was also a big fence behind us. I guess they're getting better at creating 'free speech zones.'

So far, the only media coverage I've seen of the protest focuses solely on the 5 or 6 Pro Bush demonstrators! I tell you, if it weren't for the red media in this state, we'd probably be blue.

9. I saw them filming the coverage, that pissed me off so much
The camera was pointed directly at the 5 Bob Corker signs, instead of at the dozens if not 100's of anti-bush signs.

8. I was there, I have similar pictures that I will try and post later
The College Republicans also decided to show up with their Bob Corker signs, and of course my favorite sign that a girl was carrying around "Bush is Sexy". My favorite part, was how the liburl media decided to cover the event with a backdrop of the 5 Bob Corker signs instead of the 100's of anti-bush signs.

Seriously. 400 in Nashville is probably at least equivalent to double that in other places. :D

13. Unintended consequence of spreading the Katrina survivors
across the nation...more people see and hear first-hand how badly they have been treated, and a very determined grassroots movement grows stronger.

15. Beautiful!!! So, did it rain overnight/early morning there?
It seems that everytime that Dimson** or Darth Cheney is in the state it rains afterwards and often a cool or downright cold wind follows. I always joke that it is just Mother Nature trying to clear their nastiness out!

Rained here overnight and early this morning and the wind blew quite a bit.

19. Funny you should say that . .
If it rained in my neck of the woods, I missed it, but that happens sometimes. This is, however, the first day in a long time that the afternoon heat hasn't forced me to lower the thermostat. Instead, I turned it up. It's been downright cold in the house today.

It was 93 with humidity here yesterday before Bushie** arrived in the state. It rained overnight and early this morning and the wind was blowing quite a bit and it was cool this morning. I had to run an errand this afternoon and it was 73 at 3:30-4:00, and the sun didn't come out until around 2:00!!

We needed some cleansing and some relief!

edit to fix transposed words:silly:

32. Yeah,
it is too bad. I'm going to hold my nose and vote for the team. The good news is we might send a genuine progressive to the House.

http://cohenforcongress.com/

If it happens, it will be the first time in more years than I can remember that progressives in this state have had somebody in Washington. The man - Steve Cohen - has been a state senator for 24 years, he has a very good shot at it.

35. And Kurita was better than Ford...
She just didn't have the money and family connections to match up against Ford and the machine that is behind him. Again, that to me is not Progressive politics when a good candidate can simply be pushed out by the other just because they have more money. And I'm tired of having to vote AGAINST candidates and not for them. Ford is just the candidate the with D next to his name. It doesn't make him better, and that is unfortunate.

37. Just look at their issue positions on their campaign websites
http://www.bobcorkerforsenate.com/Issues.aspx

http://www.haroldfordjr.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34

Harold Ford is campaigning on affordable healthcare, renewable energy, strengthening the middle class, and eliminating pork from the budget. Bob Corker is campaigning on "family values", "security", "activist judges", and wrapping himself in the flag as much as possible. Ford may not be the perfect Democrat, but he is someone who is worth voting for, not just against the GOP.

I realize that Kurita was a lot more progressive than Ford. The fact is that people who have more money and more connections in politics are much more likely to win a nomination and while it's not fair, politics can't be fair. Even if there were publicly financed elections, Ford still would've won the nomination because he is so much more well known and well connected than Kurita.

38. Ford Is DLC as well...
And he voted for the war in Iraq so how the hell does he think we will afford what he is "campaigning on". That alone turns me off to him, besides him being an egotistical opportunist. And to say that he loves Bush "personally" was appalling. Also, campaigning and doing are two different things. It seems in order to win in a conservative state you have to be conservative. Not a very good testimonial to the power of true Democratic principles. I'm fed up with all Parties at this point anyway. Nothing but empty promises and 30 second soundbites.
