I would think that the fact that obesity is increasing while the use and distribution of food stamps has gone down would pretty much refute Rush's stupidity.

One thing the obesity problem is NOT due to is poor nutrition education in school, and it's NOT due to a market saturated (you should pardon the expression) with fatty, non-nutritious prepared food, and it's NOT due to the fragmentation of a society where food preparers gather to exchange tips and experience, and it's NOT due to short-sighted government policies that favor corporate bottom lines over citizen's health.

So according to Rush Limpball, 32% of Americans are on food stamps. Wow, what an awful economy we have. I thought the bushes were great for the economy.

But the facts don't support Limpball's lie.

"The number of people in households that receive food stamps has grown from 17.2 million in 2000 to 25.7 million in 2005, and is projected to increase to almost 27 million in 2006."

I had no idea so many Americans qualified for food stamps. Under the grrrrrreat economy of the bushes, we have had about a 57% increase in the number of poor families that qualify for food stamps. Yet even using the projected 2006 numbers, only about 9% of Americans are on food stamps.

So Limpball is wrong because about a 23% of Americans are getting fat while not on food stamps. I think his fatness is in that 23%.
