Did anyone else find the contrast between Keith O and Tucker jarring?
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 07:43 AM by Armstead
One thing that struck me after Keith Olbermann's amazing commentary last night was the jarring contrast between him and what immediately followed.

Right after a large dose of truth, passion and courage, the TV went to the smirking preppy lightweight aura of Tucker Carlson, chippily filling in for Joe Scarborough and introducing his show. Among other things, Tucker was so proud of goading a law enforcement official about putting that polygamist guy on the Ten Most Wanted List.

It was so startling to go from one transcendent moment of what television could be back into the real world of plastic tabloid pablum.

1. I have my cable box set to block Scab-burough Cuntry
So, unfortunately, I also missed the last 10 seconds of Keith's incredible speech.

I assume it's on YouTube by now, though.

2. Yes, I noticed, but I thought it was just a re-run of Tucker that shows ea
earlier. If it was Scarborough, then it was even worse. Joe and Keith usually exchange pleasantries - as do other host of live TV shows that follow each other. So for Tucker did not want to agree with Keith, he could have at least said "good evening" or something.

3. Tucker thinks that a man who hooks up underage girls with old
men isn't worth prosecuting? Damn, you put a religious stamp on pedophilia and pimping and the Republicans are totally sucked in.

4. Actually, I almost posted about how BALLSY Tucker was last night!

Not about Rummy, obviously. But did you see him grill the DA regarding the polygamy case? If he only had that kind of passion when interviewing BushCo officials. He was beating the guy all over, asking him how arresting this guy was protecting America, and pointed out that this is the same list UBL was on, and why are thy wasting time on polygamists when the Usama is still at large. He really hammered the guy. He said, "As a conservative, I have a real problem with you arresting people for their lifestyle. You may not like it, but is this really worth the resources when we still haven't found Usama Bin Laden?" (paraphrased). It may not have been even close to KO's opener...but seriously...I doubt we'll be seeing anything like that again soon. I smell a leave of absence or a vacation coming up for Kieth.

5. I think KO is in a league by himself at MSNBC, but agree that the
difference between KO and Tuckie is jarring. I can't stomach Tuckie and when I realized he was on after KO, I turned off the tube.

I think MSNBC needs to hire Bill Press. They've tried the right wing host show thing and it ain't workin' for 'em.

6. If they want profits, there certainly is a niche market.

A 60% niche! GE has plenty of profits as it is, but how much is enough for the corporacracy? Having worked there in the Jack Welch era, I believe they are insatiable...
