it is 7:30 AM already and inside the house it looks and feels as if it were midnight. Gotta go take down some of the boards down. Not all. Hurricane season not over yet--but prayerfully last hurricane this year for our area here. Also gotta go take a walk around the block before putting down some of the boards.

6. My daughter lives in Hollywood near University Blvd.

Anyway, last year all the people in her neighborhood just left the boards up throughout the entire hurricane season. Why bother taking them down when another hurricane just follows on the heels of the last one.

7. we did too last year...but somehow last year no sooner had one

marched on to the gulf that we were told another one was coming. this year, ernesto's gone and so far none seem to be coming this way right away. we've taken down those boards which are the easiest to put up, but we've left the ones that are more diffult and laborious to get up, up. living in total darkness is misery. This year we did not lose power, either. last year we were without power for about a whole month...so for those rooms that are still boarded up, and will remain boarded up for the remainder of the season, this year we, so far, at least have power and air conditioning. that is good. still and all, i don't like the darkness created by the boards...and as i went walking around the neighborhood this morning, i noticed too, that most of the houses have some boards on, and some down. seems like the neighborhood is thinking in sink.(p.s. from your post i am deducing that your daughter made it okay through the hurricanes last year...and hopefully again this year through Ernesto...and hopefully we won't have any more storms this year--but if we do, hopefully we will all be okay again.)
