Observation Regarding News Stories on Politicians' Statements

Has anyone ever noticed that stories reporting on statements by Republicans never include a statement from the other side, yet ones reporting on statements by Democrats always include a response?

Take this one, for example, about Bush's new plan to link 9-11 and Iraq.

Not a word in it from a prominent Democrat or anyone else challenging his remarks.

Now look at this one about the Democratic response to Rumsfeld's hateful rant:

There's a comment from both Frist and an RNC spokesthing.

And this is not an isolated incident. If you check the papers and news sites every day, I guarantee that you will see this 90% of the time. It's disgusting.

That is to say, they will use the Democratic position as a strawman that they then proceede to tear down.
