Let each "side" choose their candidate..fill all the stadiums in the country with spectators and fire up the jumbotrons..

We'll have cheerleaders performing their routines..American Idol winners can perform..hey.,.we could even have dueling parades..

and at a pre-ordained time..

Two supreme court justices enter the stadium to uproarious, thundering applause..

Oprah Winfrey follows..

the crowd goes silent and all eyes are on the jumbotrons..

Oprah produces a silver dollar and proves to the crowds that there is a "heads and a tails"..

She flips the coin, as the close up camera follows its journey to the ground...

each candidate produces a slip of paper sealed inside an envelope ..(they earlier flipped a coin)

Ladies and Gentlemennnnn..meet your new president...

Are yewwwwww readddddy for some presidentinnnn?

2. And the loser is taken out in to the desert
And surrounded by prisoners from this year's "row", is given front row seats to an
above ground nuclear test 10 meters away. No recounts. Losing is paramount to death.

3. Americans like the system they have: a leader is selected clandestinely
through a secret process of backstabbing intrigue and chicanery from among a closed loop of ladder climbing insiders, according to criteria and preferences that have nothing to with the rest of us--the result is announced and the people go on with their lives trying to earn enough so they can retire and die. The people like this system; they like this system because it's exactly like the one they know from their workplace. They have to obey and like it, and that's easy because it's what they are used to. You may say they don't like this system, but I don't hear them complaining. And anyway we all know what happens to people who complain too much at work.
