3. I wrote the FCC on him
and his hate speech.
I was sent this in return:
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/freespeech.html
>>>>snip
The FCC is barred by law from trying to prevent the broadcast of any point of view. The Communications Act prohibits the FCC from censoring broadcast material, in most cases, and from making any regulation that would interfere with freedom of speech. Expressions of views that do not involve a “clear and present danger of serious substantive evil” come under the protection of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The FCC cannot suppress such expressions. According to an FCC opinion on this subject, “the public interest is best served by permitting free expression of views.” This principle ensures that the most diverse and opposing opinions will be expressed, even though some may be highly offensive. However, the Commission does have enforcement responsibilities in certain limited instances.

For example, the Courts have said that indecent material is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution and cannot be banned entirely. It may be restricted, however, in order to avoid its broadcast when there is a reasonable risk that children may be in the audience.

:puke:
They aren't going to do jack shit about this douchebag.

5. that is why we each need to target the LOCAL stations that air him
when it impacts their pocketbook, they will individually drop him then when enough local stations drop him then nationally will drop him

9. I wrote WBAP
and all that happened was that I started receiving their monthly newsletters.
As much as it pains me...I truly believe that Rush is as deeply seated as a black op in this administration whose sole purpose is to harvest and tend hatred to opposing viewpoints.
He is untouchable at this point.

12. He needs to be found with a dead woman or live little boy in his bed...
and even then, he'll just claim he picked-up the young boy at The Clinton Library, and that his doctor wrote him a prescription for pedophilia to protect his privacy.

15. To me it is surreal
ANYONE else that had done the things this fartbag has done...would have not ONLY been thrown UNDER the train, but whatever remained would have been bagged up, filled with rocks and thrown overboard.
However, Rush skates by. Felony after felony after felony...with nary a mark.
The guy is impenetrable. He IS one of Bushco's henchmen.
He is a made man.

7. Great! You get his ratings to drop and I'm sure it will happen.
I hate that oxycontin junkie with a passion...but he aint goin' a place until his ratings drop.

RATINGS RATINGS RATINGS. That's what keeps radio personalities on or off the air. How often does this need be said before it sinks in? AAR is not a CHARITY ORGANIZATION for radio hosts who just really want to be on the air. They are a BUSINESS. They hire the ones that will bring in and hold big ad revenues, and fire the ones that don't.

Need this to be posted in braille before its understood?

14. Complaints make Rush stronger
Limpbough has millions of listeners who love him, and at least a million who hate him and listen in to yell and cuss at him.

He makes his living off emotion, including negative emotions like hate.

When liberals complain about him, that proves that he's doing his job--provoking people.

It's like Chinese handcuffs--the harder you try to get rid of him, the better off he is.

News and commentary, left to right

17. God we've been trying that for years here.
We even convinced some of his sponsors to quit him, but he's still on the air. I don't get it. If they take Mike off, then it proves they don't want anyone really left of the dial. However, really wacko right of the dial is okay I suppose.

18. Talk radio in the USA favors the right wing.
Especially AM stations. I can go into all the demographic and market reasons for that but its a bore. Suffice to say, in the current dynamic, a rightwing hateful gasbag has a MUCH easier time procuring and holding a radio show than a liberal/leftist does. More stations are willing to back a rightwing blabbist than they are the most respected liberal. That means that, given a rightwing host and leftwing host who have the same level of low ratings, the rightwing one has a vastly greater chance of holding on to his or her job.

When you call in and complain about a liberal host, those calls will actually accrue damage to that host. When you call in and bitch about a wingnut like Rush, it actually emboldens the stations resolve and makes the host look he or she is under seige and a tough guy for hanging on. I'm sorry but thats just the way it is. It sucks. But there it be.
