Fresh GRIST for the ****RUMOR**** Mill.... take with hugh grain of salt...
ok.. this does not come from any particular SOURCE, it's an amalgam of several 'streams' of info i've gotten over the past 2 hours...

***RUMOR*** says that Malloy's advertisers were off, people can't handle the truth with his fevor...

***RUMOR*** apparently there has been a co-ordinated (freeper) deluge at the FCC about Malloy, made-up or not, it could get AAR tied up in FCC-bullshit for months... years....

***RUMOR*** apparently some contracts have come due and available also, remember when some of the people from Democracy Radio/Jones Radio got involved with AAR management...

**BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR** **BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR** **BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR** **BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR**

(all times eastern)

5a-6a : Mark Riley
6a-9a : Sam Seder
9a - Noon : Stephanie Miller
Noon - 3p : Al Franken
3p - 6p : Randi Rhodes
6p-8p : Rachael Maddow
8p-11p : The Young Turks (tape delay)

nothing mentioned outside that time frame....

**BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR** **BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR** **BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR** **BIG FREAKING HONKING RUMOR**

there is MASSIVE buzz in the industry on this but no one want's to say squat 'on the record'. If I hear more, I'll spill it...

The "Don't question the official government story about 9/11 EVER" Young Turks?

R.I.P. AAR. Apparently they don't have a clue who their audience is.

10. I have listened to them a few times
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 06:07 PM by Nutmegger
They are okay. I was introduced to them during the "filibuster for a filibuster" thing way back when A-LIE-TOE was being filibustered.

Good times.

11. Nothing at the FCC. We know because we had a great O'Reilly
campaign and all it did was make Faux spring for a new add. FCC sent us form letters. So, I'd guess this bit of it isn't substantial.

13. Of your rumors, this rings true to me.
***RUMOR*** says that Malloy's advertisers were off, people can't handle the truth with his fevor...

I figured it could be one of three things or maybe all three.

1) Advertisers backing off.
2) Affiliates backing off.
3) Legal threats whether it's the FCC or even the WH covertly.

14. Good riddance Springer; yay Stephanie, Sam, and Rachel; BOO Young Turks!
I'm going to miss my Kent Jones snark in the mornings, but I have no doubt that Sam will rise to the challenge. (Why not pair him up with Mark Riley instead of giving him just an hour?) I listen to Stephanie Miller online when I get to work, so that's cool. I admit it's been a while since I've listened to the Turks, but I found them spectacularly overwhelming. They coudln't get a tape delay of Tom Hartman? Speaking of which, he sounded awfully Malloy-ish today!

17. Some holes in the logic
***RUMOR*** says that Malloy's advertisers were off, people can't handle the truth with his fevor...

I'll believe that. Advertisers tend to shy away from controversial programming, left or right.

***RUMOR*** apparently there has been a co-ordinated (freeper) deluge at the FCC about Malloy, made-up or not, it could get AAR tied up in FCC-bullshit for months... years....

AAR can't be fined at all, since they don't own any stations. The FCC can only fine affiliates.

***RUMOR*** apparently some contracts have come due and available also, remember when some of the people from Democracy Radio/Jones Radio got involved with AAR management...

The founder of Democracy Radio does work for AAR now. The only involvement by Jones is that they contracted with AAR to sell advertising for them.

(all times eastern)

5a-6a : Mark Riley
6a-9a : Sam Seder
9a - Noon : Stephanie Miller
Noon - 3p : Al Franken
3p - 6p : Randi Rhodes
6p-8p : Rachael Maddow
8p-11p : The Young Turks (tape delay)

Sam has more or less been confirmed for 9-12 ET. Stephanie Miller is already syndicated by Jones. The Young Turks, I can believe, but I had heard something about mornings. I can see them working for AAR, since their situation is similar to that of Thom Hartmann prior to him joining AAR. TYT syndicate their own show, and only have about four terrestrial affiliates plus Sirius Left. Not sure what their contract with Sirius is about, though.

And supposedly, the new schedule takes effect around the middle of September.

20. The Truth hurts, just play some Pink Floyd and everything will
no it won't, but we can still pretend. :eyes: I think Mike will end up working for someone a lot bigger than AAR. Just my 2cents.

The FCC would go after Malloy but not Ann or Rush, well ya maybe I'd believe that. Sure. I'll think about it between reality shows.

21. Hope you are SO WRONG about Sam
Because I'll never hear him at those hours - maybe 8:00 to 9:00 but not before that and that would suck so much - as for the rest of it absolutely nothing I'm interested in.....maybe Randi now and then -

Since I'm an internet listener guess I'll have to check out more of the Head On lineup

22. From Mike Molloy's own site:
MIKE MALLOY FIRED BY AIR AMERICA RADIO

There will be no Mike Malloy program today - or any day - on Air America Radio as we have been terminated. We are told its a financial decision.

We are as shocked as you are, especially since as recently as last Tuesday we were told we had the go-ahead to announce our return to NY airwaves and that our contract was "on the way."

We are told its a financial decision.

More details to follow as we hear them ourselves.

23. So Air America isn't smart enough to stand up to the GOP?
Enough said.

They apparently didn't work hard enough to sell advertising to companies that wouldn't make them toe the line on the GOP message

They're too chicken to stand up to the FCC, when freepers make baseless accusations

Time for someone with balls to take on this job, apparently Air America isn't up to it.
