Are substitute cable news hosts required to imitate the style of the
person they are subbing for?

John King invariably tries to be Blitzer and Norah O'Donnell does her best Tweety impression...and neither one of these two succeed in being more than annoying.

1. Whorah isn't skitzy enough to be Tweety
No political crashcart, no leaning even SLIGHTLY to the left. At least Tweets is good for maybe a few days a month of righteous indignation at Bushco. Not Whorah ... she's memorized the talking points.

2. One thing I've noticed about this...
When there is a replacement host on Countdown, they seem to say exactly what Keith would normally say. If you listen and try to hear what they are saying in Keith's voice, it's actually kind of eerie. I assume this happens because the same person writes the stuff as usual, it's just someone else reading it.

(Note that I am talking about the scripted stories and lead-ins, not the interviews with guests or correspondents.)

4. It only makes sense that the substance of the show remain the same.
A person's style cannot be copied, but the content of the show should stay the same.

I'd hate to seecOlberman's show become radically right while he is away :)
