He Admits He Will Fail
He said as much when he said we would not leave Iraq while he is in office.

Now, had he said "I hope that we can leave sometime before then", he would be claiming that he might succeed.

As it stands, he flat out admits he will fail.

1. "winning" in Iraq was never part of the plan.
The plan is to stay there forever and maintain a presence in the region. You're kidding yourself if you think we're ever getting out of there as long as Republicans are in control.

4. Will we get out of there with Democrats in control?
It's going to take a hell of a lot of political courage for the next President to call for a full withdrawal from Iraq. I think it's a long shot that our nominee will be someone with that kind of courage.

5. I hope so - but these days, I'm not so sure.
Sometimes I think the machine that's been put in motion can't be stopped by anyone, no matter who's running the country. The neocons will not go away easily.

7. I know and you know that, heck all DU knows that
But most of the people don't know that, and they'd never even think it.

What they do think is that we will win.

Well, he says we will not win anytime in the next two years and that just might piss off his supporters if they only knew.

2. It will be a baton pass of the Iraq fiasco to McCain
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 03:37 PM by Submariner
The neocons will hope that McCain wins on the platform of carrying on the Iraq folly for another 8 years of repuke rule in the WH.

We need to crush ALL repukes like the maggots they are.

6. A Dem Admin would not completely withdraw from Iraq.
There would be a major Deployment to Kuwait but a Troop Force and Mercs would remain to protect the Embassy (Palace) that is being built and quite a number of US Troops and Mercs would be in place to protect the oil fields. Iraq is a strategic stronghold against Iran. In no way would Dems vacate this territory. There is too much at stake to do so. Most Dems will not openly admitt that they support holding onto Iraq but their votes for the $ support display their stance.

8. Yes, but
The Dems would withdraw most of our troops and while that act would never cure what has been wrought it would be progress.

As it is, he admits his administration will not make progress in Iraq.
