The left has long debated Bush's pre Iraq war claims that Iraq was attempting to transfer chemical weapons to Al Qaida. Intelligence that led up to the al-Shifa attack included claims that Iraqi WMD scientists traveled to al-Shifa to assist an Al Qaida affiliate in setting up a chemical weapons plant. The right points toward al-Shifa as proof that Bush was right about the threat from Saddam Hussein. Before the righties all believed al-Shifa was an "aspirin factory."

The left and the right have both switched positions on al-Shifa. Its now to the advantage of the left to say al-Shifa was not a WMD plant. More than that, it was an early demonstration that intelligence from George Tenet and the CIA about WMD was not reliable.

Since the al-Shifa story is likely not true, and creates a disadvantage for the left, I'm asking if you would please consider changing that part of your essay.
