Ugh! I Sat Through That NBC Interview with the chimp. Wtf is the Big Deal?
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 08:55 AM by leftchick
The Interview with Brian Williams is here.....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14576012

I just finished watching it and I can not understand all of the adulation for Brian Williams. He asked a few probing questions and then let the chimp go on and on for several minutes manipulating most questions into one he wanted and then gave a typical bullshit answer. WITH NO FOLLOW-UPS FROM BRIAN! NONE! He simply moved on to the next "probing" question, which means nothing if you won't try and force a straight answer.

The chimp looked perfectly comfortable to me, the smirks and snickers, and invading Brian's space time and again with nary a look from Brian. bush turned that adoring son segment into a Cleaver family moment and I wanted to barf!

Yes he said some stupid, inane things but when doesn't he? The bushisms are never noticed by most people anyway and certainly the media avoids them. I found the whole thing extremely over rated and a typical corporate media platform for the asshat**.

One Example:

BRIAN WILLIAMS: You have apologized for the damage, but what about the damage to your presidency? And Mr. President, here's what I mean, most call it your low point. A lot of Americans are always going to believe that that weekend, that week, you were watching something on television other than what they were seeing. And Professor Dyson from the University of Pennsylvania said on our broadcast last night, it was because of your patrician upbringing. That it's a class issue.

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: I don't know Dyson, and Dyson doesn't know me, but I will tell you this, that when it's all said and done, the people down here know that I stood in Jackson Square, and I said we're gonna help you, and we delivered.

Where is the Follow up? What the fuck has he delivered? Why not bring up how people were disappointed to come to Jackson Square and find the lights left with bush's entourage? So many possibilites. What a waste of time.

2. back away quickly from the corporate propaganda machine
They are just pretending to be journalists.

They are corporo-republicon manequins shoving the propaganda down the public gullet.

Williams whimped out. No follow ups -- just set ups.

What a corporate weenie. No honor. No service to the public.

Excuse me while I blow chunks after watching Williams ASSUME THE POSITION

IMO, simply a propaganda channel attempting to maintain a veneer of credibility.

5. I did the same thing just now and had the same reaction
don't understand why it was esteemed such a hard interview.
And you picked the exact right spot that begged for a followup.

All in all the questions were not bad, and I did like how Williams made the point about "standing of the US in the world" several times.

6. Funny, that's the EXACT moment I switched the channel, that question
"what about the damage to your presidency"? Supposedly Brian Williams is the most impassioned tv anchor about Katrina, and even he turns to the political ramifications right away. Disgusting. Just playing right into the Chimp's warped idea that everything is about him. Williams should have kept the focus of Katrina on the people it affected. Bah.

8. Because here in CandyLand even the insignificant is cause for celebration
Just wait until Joe Biden or Hillary asks a real question (with a - gasp! - follow-up) to someone, someday, somewhere.

That ONE question will trump years of waffling and kow-towing and flag-pin wearing and DLC'ing and heaven kows what else.

This place will go apeshit.

Again. :) :hi:

11. Hell i thought Bu$h was going to take a swing at Williams
on a couple of occasions, but i agree any reporter worth their salt should have would have taken Bu$h to task. With the baggage Bu$h lugs around, i couldn't believe Williams let him off the ropes but thats been the MSM MO since 9-11.

15.  I only saw portions of the interview.
However I thought bush looked like a weirdo. Somewhat insane. Williams could only ask what the chimp was prepared to answer and the chimp screwed that up. It show how chimpy was a first class nit wit. His snarly disgusting verbiage was a clear example of what a maniac he is. He scares me because the corporations still love him and the media, although are just now taking chances, still has to protect him. We have to win the senate and house in order to stop the bleeding of America. Get those ass hats to realize that the tax cuts failed and we need to reinstate them, stop the carnage in Iraq, get NO fixed and get the economy on track. In my local paper this morning there was an article about the foreclosures in the next town to me. They were up 61% in a fairly wealthy town. So tell me how well the tax cuts helped the economy. We are sinking friends and need to change directions.

24. Ah ...
It just is beyond comprehension that this guy is the President of the United States (ARG !!!) ... HOW this country could have let this happen ...

I have ceased to be shocked at how clearly unfit this guy is to be president during interviews ... From every possible perspective ... Intellectual capacity, leadership ... His CLEAR disregard for the people of the country ...

Williams was clearly in "awe" to be intervewing the clown ... Some of why he jumped questions instead of following up ... But, your "protecting" the president thing is part of it ... Whoever would REALLY lay the wood to this guy, and push him that one milimeter it will take for him to have a complete implosion in front of a camera ... Whoever would do that to this guy would WISH to be treated as well as Dan Rather was by his bosses and the corporate/RW media ...

16. He actually set up some good questions, but the problem was
you're correct, there was no follow-up.

Letting him once again get away with tying Iraq to 9/11.....

Letting him get away with saying "he delivered" with New Orleans still in ruins. :wtf:

He did get in a good little jab though, "still not watching t.v.?," as if to say, if you'd been watching tv, maybe you would have known about Katrina ahead of time.

17. He should have at least asked him
to summarize the plot of the Camus book that he claims he read!
But the bar for the MSM has been moved so far from reality that this passes for a "tough" interview just because he got him to admit that the Iraqis weren't the ones who attacked us.
Rather than ask valid follow up questions, it was evidently more important to ask about his relationship with his father and if they talk shop.

18. FYI: Brian Williams is a Rush Limbaugh fan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Williams

<snip>
In a December 2004 interview with C-Span's Brian Lamb, Williams proclaimed that he is a longtime listener of The Rush Limbaugh Show : "I do listen to Rush. I listen to it from a radio in my office, or depending on my day, if I'm in the car, I will listen to Rush. And he will tell you I've been listening for years. I think it's my duty to listen to Rush. I think Rush has actually yet to get the credit he is due, because his audience for so many years felt they were in the wilderness of this country. No one was talking to them."
</snip>

I don't trust him - never have and never will.

19. Apparently he has delivered insult on top of the initial misery, created
more misery, the usual corrupt cronyism (Innovative Emergency Management), stripped 73,000 citizens of their rights as Americans, and then lies his ass off to us and he gets away with it.

If you missed Greg Palast on Democracy Now or his short film on LinkTV that aired last night, please visit his website and read the articles and watch the videos. I often wonder if I could be any more enraged or disgusted!

20. He delivered what he usually delivers: the photo-op.
He said that he "stood in Jackson Square" and "said we're gonna help you", and by golly, he stood in that place and said those words. He delivered!

What kind of silly person are you, expecting real action?

21. Sadly everything is relative
and we get next to nothing from the MSM as far as being tough on the freak in chief - I stopped watching MSM long ago in frustration - but Williams did nail him a couple of times and of course could of and should have followed up - but if this interview helps the sheeple see more flaws in this ass than Williams did a good thing. I was stunned that anyone from MSM even talked to the freak as Williams did and personally was glad to see it

to describe his *cough* reading habits.

I'm also impressed to learn that Bush$ just read "3 Shakespeares"
