NEW ORLEANS - Calling resistance against terrorism the “defining struggle of the 21st century,” President Bush declared Tuesday that he would not let Americans’ frustration with the war deter him from finishing the job in Iraq.

In an exclusive interview Tuesday night on “NBC Nightly News,” the president said history would vindicate his decision to invade Iraq in 2003 and remove President Saddam Hussein from power. But it would consign him to ignominy if he heeded the calls of critics and much of the public to pull U.S. troops home before democracy could be stabilized in Iraq, he said.

“If we lose our nerve and leave the Middle East before the job is finished, the world will be much worse off,” Bush told “Nightly News” anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams.

“We retreat, they follow us,” he added. “And I see this clearly as day.”

So now its the united states against the president of the united states, fucking great.

2. When they start appealing for 'history' to be their judge...
...we're all in deep shit. The next step is designing military uniforms for themselves and awarding themselves medals.

Here's hoping that the Hague is Georgieboy's judge, and before very much longer.

4. Oh Jesus
what a GREAT Question! The stuttering, the shitting of his Depends, hula jaw, sweating bullets.. he might just go off like the guy's head blowing up in that movie SCANNERS :)

I love it. Send that to Helen Thomas right away, she Does read her email, and THAT would kick some serious ass..

God but I've seen this before, Bush is like Nixon (a crook), Johnson (Hillbilly Liar, but with some morals), Ford (Clutzy ass lame ass duck) and Attila the Hun all rolled into one. If he could leave pyramids of skulls to let folks know he'd passed through I believe he would. I also think that Cheney would eat a baby, but that's another story.

They have the perfect scam going, the Big War Machine, fake terror supplied by yokels, and real terror supplied by paid assistants, or maybe even the CIA when needed.

"You are going to DIE if you don't Vote for me.." wow, never thought I'd see the day when the American people were THREATENED, each and every one of us by Fiat.

This is where America Used to be.

5. Well since these bozos talk endlessly of "finishing the job" and not
leaving until the "job is finished", it would seem a natural for an interviewer to ask "what, exactly, is the job, and when will it be known to be finished?" since there is no Terrorist Hirohito to hand over his sword on the USS Missouri.

To my knowledge, Shrub, Cheney, Rummy have NEVER been asked a question like this in 5 years of this.

"Oh, don't worry, we'll let you know when it's over." (wink wink)

10. Well, I can think of a pair of
"little boots" that would be filled with urine if it was asked, and once again please send this to Helen Thomas, I almost guarantee you she will ask it, I was lucky enough to meet her at the Dem Primary in Boston and hold her little hand, like a dove in mine. I told her they should build a statue of her and dedicate it to Real Media.. Sweet and sharp as a razor all at the same time..

Good point, what WOULD be THE Defining moment? Killing Bin Laden.. nope. Capturing Saddam? We've seen that is meaningless, along with the murder of his sons and a 14 year old boy with the immediate razing of the building, destruction of a crime scene.

Bush standing under a "Mission Accomplished" sign.. afraid that didn't fly either.

No, they've got the perfect scam, and they will kill us all to stay in office, we are PUPPETS, Clay in their hands with a willing media..

Write Helen, I want to see that particular sword hanging over their heads :)

Helen Thomas writes for Hearst Newspapers. Reach her at (202) 263-6400 or at hthomas@hearstdc.com

I'm pretty sure that the email address she answers to, some have posted her contact info here before and as I recall it was at hearst..

Let us know if she answers, bet she'll ask this one, surprised she hasn't already.. good one for Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rice personally, hope she doesn't waste it on Tony Snowjob (MaxHeadroom as the media guys call him)..

Hope this helps.

14. Ahab the Arab
the Sheik of the Burning Sands?

About time to make a remake of that song, it would be hilarious, put some Bush quotes in there.. sounds like another Flash animation job for SYMBOLMAN :)

Y'know, show Bush kissing them on the lips, holding hands, all that.

Funny how people simply don't know that the Bush family has been kissing Saudi ass for 40 years or more now, and that MOST of the terrorists who flew into the Trade Center were SAUDIS.

Total disconnect, but something I think people should be shown over and over, maybe during this election period. Not to mention the embracing of Pakistan, who were on the list as Terrorists. But I think Bush really loved knowing that their leader, under a democratic voting system got 127% of the Vote to win :)

Meanwhile, please don't wrap a towel around your head after a shower and stand on the balcony of your apartment, lest some cracker pops a cap in your ass - this has been a Public Service Announcement..

7. That's easy.
The war on terror will end when every single person in the world is absolutely obedient to BushCo or their neocon successors. Only when there is complete consensus and total compliance will the war on terror be over. The 'terror' BushCo speak of is the terror they feel when they gaze beyond the perimeter of their whitebread world. The only cure is hegemony, now and forever.

Then there will be peace.

I rather suspect they like voting for real candidates, but their idea of real candidates wouldn't be very favorable to the United States.

The US will not be happy until they impose their brand of "democracy" on Iraq (then every other nation they choose). Much like the Fundamentalists and their brand of Christianity or whatever other religion they choose to impose on people.

. . .that they think of the military as mere cannon fodder? The way i hear that phrase is that we will put our troops in the Middle East as targets, because it's better they kill our military personnel than civilians.

So, who supports the troops now?

26. He really is saying He is the Decider and public opinion does not matter!
"“People don’t like my policies, necessarily,” he said, noting opposition to the decision in 2002 to withdraw U.S. support for the International Criminal Court and his opposition to the Kyoto Protocols on global warning, in addition to the war in Iraq.

But “you’ve got to make decisions based upon what you think is right — that you can’t try to be popular,” he maintained."

Why can't he try to be popular? Especially when it means sending thousands of us to our deaths and burning hundreds of billions of dollars, shouldn't he bend to public opinion?

34. "you got to make decisions based upon what you think is right-
- that you can't try to be popular", now let's analyze this sentence, what makes him think that his decisions are right? and the next sentence "that you can't try to be popular" to me that sounds like you can't be liked by the people, there was something I heard once like employers are not supposed to be well liked by their employees. Maybe he does think he is a CEO and fuck everyone what they think about his policies. Does that make sense to anyone?
