Royal Canadian Mounted Police - Just mind blowing
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 08:15 PM by Submariner
I'm presently watching Spike Lee's "When the Levees Broke" HBO 4 hour+ presentation.

They just interviewed a guy in New Orleans who said on the fourth day of the flood some guys showed up where he was trapped by the flooding and said, "Hey, you people need some help?" The NO resident says "Yes....where are you guys from?" to which they stated, "Oh, we're the Royal Canadian Mounted Police!"

It is mind blowing to me that the RCMP from Vancouver, British Columbia beat FEMA to the punch in helping people in our own United States.

That film clip would look so great in the anti-Neocon political ads in the run up to November.

Unreal...the RCMP beats out Bush's FEMA for rendering assistance. Thanks Canada for further embarrassing our dick head pResident.

Which brings up the logical neocon question, "Why does the Royal Canadian Mounted Police hate Amerika?"

1. That is unreal. But then it seems that people are more willing to help
other nations before their own. Because then there is no dispute over which pot the money comes out of.

2. Isn't the documentary amazing? It is full of these damning facts...
concerning the utter failure of the government.

7. Like Condi going to a Broadway Play after shoe shopping
and then the next day playing tennis with Monica Seles. While NO drowns Condi plays. Pure scum.

3. Weren't they turned away?
I seem to remember reading something about that last year, that the RCMP showed up but were turned away by FEMA or other officials. I hope I'm wrong....

6. I believe they were held up for a day or two
There were some statements of incredulity from Canadian officials, IIRC.

4. Bizarre, isn't it?
Some Canadian relatives told me about it when it happened. I think they may have gotten there on the 2nd day.

5. Remember too that the Canadian firefighters arrived at the
scene of 9-11, if I remember correctly, before any of our NG and other auxilliary help arrived.

10. In Canada we heard about this at the time. Rescue teams from all

over the USA went to NO. So it isn't that big a deal. Vancouver offered and were accepted. So they went and were given a part of town to help. I know it meant allot to the people at the time. But they were just one of many elite groups that showed up to help and did. The bigger question in my mind is how with War in Iraq, how National Guardsmen & Guards-women were not available for emergencies at home.

When the hurricanes topple all the telephone wires..you'll often see Hydro Quebec trucks down in New England. They just have extra staff in an emergency (they generate alot of electricity for New England so have a massive network of wires at home to tend to).

And no surprise it was a team from BC (which is all mountains). Those outdoorsy nuts in BC can hang from a pinky on a mountain face and need only a shovel in the winter time to make a comfortable sleeping quarters. Any rescue squad from British Columbia would be the elite of the elite in that regard in the world.
