I'm getting really upset about the way that Bush & Co. are using "fascism"
to describe the people they are fighting. They're theocrats, or fundamentalist totalitarians, or whatever, but they do not encompass the economical aspect of fascism which is a major part of the definition. It's very obvious that Karl Rove is having them use the term over and over again to deflect anyone from using the term to describe them.

I think this is a good time to review the fourteen defining characteristics of fascism along with examples. Then we'll see who the true fascists really are:

2. It's called "Projecting."

Or, like when Swaggart used to rail on against the evils of the flesh...before getting caught with a hooker, and his trousers 'round his knees.

If you hear a righty screaming about how much they loathe something, you can bet that ten minutes later they'll be out doing it. They actually think people don't see it.

14. Precisely -- a trick they are EXPERT at.
They have had GREAT success at accusing their opponents of what they themselves are guilty of, and/or attacking their opponents for traits that are their OWN weaknesses.

A very old tactic.

Hence, we had a LIAR's campaign attacking Gore as a "liar" (LYING as they did so).
We had an AWOL COWARD's campaign attacking Kerry, a decorated war hero, for being weak and cowardly.
We have the GOP -- totally OUT of workable ideas for Iraq -- accusing Democrats of "having no ideas."

We have memes like "the liberal media," Democrats as "butting into private lives" and "restricting freedom," poor people working two full-time jobs as the "lazy" ones, teachers' unions as weighty corrupt money-suckers, on and on....

So before "fascist" gets too close to them, they need to throw it at SOMEbody else...

8. Schoolyard whining
projection AND the nervy realization that "hey, if it works so well against us why not get into the game and use it against our enemies?" After all when Bush speaks, reality must realign accordingly.

11. It's a conspiracy toward war, and to the victors (energy monopolies)....
go the spoils. Religion is only being used to get the worldwide community to support war. Radical Christians think they are fulfilling god's will and prophecy. Radical Zionists think they are defending Israel's right to exist. Radical Islamists think there are rewards waiting for them in heaven. They all worship Mars, the god of War.

15. With them using it, it lessens the meaning when we use it.
I thought that tonight. They're trying to neuter the word.
