Bush: "I've Got an Epileptic Reading List"
Chalk this up to another, "Naw - did he just say THAT?" moment. He meant to say "eclectic." This was during a conversation where he was bragging about reading three Shakespeare (sp) books, books on George Washington, and some damn French philosopher. As if he's reading A DAMN THING!

What a chimp!!

This was on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams interview.

19. You can here the entire thing on-line here after 10PM EDT
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/

The interview is in two parts. During the first part Brian Williams challenged him about the connection between Iraq and 9/11. Bush waffled and Williams didn't quite go in for the kill, but he did wound Bush. Reminds me of the picador at a bull fight. I'm still waiting for a matador to make an appearance.

The part that gets really wild is the second excerpt at the end of the broadcast. Not only did Bush refer to his "ecelectic" reading list, but he also said he read three "Shakesperes", whatever that means!

Does ecelectic come from the same dictionary as nucular?

22. Brian Williams gave him a pass...
...he should have gone for the kill and reminded Bush that he had said in his press conference last week that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11!!!

Isn't that the chorus you're hearing now across the nation?

Every verbal screw up is gold for Bush's PR team.

31. Ah, but why would a "regular" guy be tryin' to use them $5 words like
them damn eggheads? Whatsamatter with a perfectly good word like "varied?"

And what's he doin' reading damn Shakespeares and that Camus guy? Real men read Tom Clancy. (Well maybe not after he co-authored that book with Zinni.) Zane Grey, that's the ticket. Manly books not that sissy egghead stuff. He must be one of them closet Commies.

LOL.

11. Just like his summer reading list in school...
another reading list Bush isn't actually READING from.

I'm sure he has aides read the books and give him the major plot points (possibly while running in 100 degree heat).

I didn't have much time to think about it, though, as everything he said in that interview was only moer and more ridiculous than his last statement.

27. The "damn French philosopher"...
...was Albert Camus, and the book was The Stranger. Having read that novel myself, I can absolutely, positively guarantee that he didn't read it -- its hero is a nihilistic atheist whose only virtue is his ruthless honesty, and who is essentially condemned to death for not fitting in with the conventions of "respectable" society. Anti-religion, anti-conventionality and, in the end, anti-capital punishment...just the sort of thing that would cause Boy George's head to explode.

33. There was one time Bush used a "Dictionary.com" Word of the Day
which is emailed to you daily if you sign up for it.

It was during a speech a couple of years ago I beleive - and I now forget the word. But the word sounded familiar to me and sure enough, there it was in my inbox!

He's not reading anything, particularly poetry/prosaic type stuff. Gimme a break! 3 Shakespears, yeah right.

34. At msnbc.com...
...the transcript of the conversation between Williams and Bush reads "ecletic". Thanks MSNBC for giving the President yet another pass!! I e-mailed them an angry letter about "revisions" and all that but doubt it got read.

BTW, I didn't watch the replay of the video feed (They, of course, being part MSN require you to use Internet Explorer, which I refuse to do. I'm a Firefox guy.) Anyone know if it was "cleaned up" there as well??
