Can we impeach the media?
Will it do any good to get rid of this bunch of bastards if we don't find a way to change the media that props them up? The media is after all the only reason Bush still has his 34% and not a negative support rating.

2. They are co-conspirators

That is why they do so much to protect Bush. They are all in it together.

4. And the average dumbass believes every word they say
and will continue to do so. So what real good will it do to get rid of the administration if we have the assholes still around that put them there and keep them there?

3. Get involved with "The Real News."
It's a TV network planned for 2007 based on individual donations instead of govt or corporate money.

I'm not asking people to donate now, since I'd prefer that they donate to a Democratic candidate.

But we should sign up for their email list:

5. I'm looking forward to the debut. I hope LinkTV gets on more
cable and satellite servers so it can serve everyone. Will it be possible to stream on the internet for those who can't get it?

11. Yes, they've said it will be online, too.
I don't know if it will be a live stream or uploaded after the show.

6. That sounds good, but will it ever see the light of day?
What good is another network that no one knows about? We have Link and Free Speech TV, and the average person still only cares about American Idol and watches CBS news, even though it will now be turned into a morning show with Couric running it.

We have the alternatives available right now to use, but they don't get used - so what good are they?

17. It will give us something new to watch on TV...
...whether or not it gets millions of viewers.

8. Write their editors and tell them what they're wrong.
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 05:40 PM by leveymg
E-mail their advertisers and tell them you no longer buy products advertised there.

Criticize them. Cancel them. Replace them.

But the problem still remains: how do we get the average American to do the same thing? Honestly, I don't know.

12. The advertisers are dropping mass media. It's not cost-effective.
The most annoying propaganda outlets -- Fox News TV -- won't even exist in five or ten years.

14. The Simpsons will live on in syndication on-line, fortunately.
The rest of Fox will lose its reason for being. The business model of network TV, even cable news, is already dead. Everything will be micro-marketed, disguised as news or targeted opinion. Most content that's not worth paying for will be filtered.

Interactive news and opinion sites that appeal to specific communities -- such as DU -- will thrive.

16. Yes
Stop watching, write letters to their advertizers...STOP going on their shows. Write more LTTE in the papers decrying their idiocy...in other words stop accepting them and passively allowing their slimery.

I'll never forget one of the protests in Portland trying to stop the Iraq invasion. We were so sick of the media doing skewed reports on the protesters that everyone stopped talking to the reporters. A reporter went up to several people and was told "we aren't talking to you because you are PART of the Problem".

That night the anchors were stunned and babbled on and on about how they couldn't understand why we thought THEY were the enemy.

It was a hell of a moment. It needed to be echoed a few thousand more times.
